Terrible Experience – Avoid This Place!

The food was awful. The fried shrimp had five times more tempura than actual shrimp, making it nearly inedible. Another dish was drenched in vinegar, completely overpowering any other flavors.

On top of that, they tried to scam us. They forced us to pay in cash, which was only mentioned in a small line on the menu—nowhere obvious or upfront. When we asked to pay in dollars, they gave us a ridiculously low exchange rate, claiming it was the same as the nearby exchange office. When I checked, the real rate was 20% higher.

To make matters worse, the owner (or perhaps a waiter) was incredibly rude, rushing us to order and making us feel unwelcome.

Would never come...

This was the first restaurant we went to upon arriving Playa del Carmen. Seafood cocktail sauce was straight out of a can, slimy and sickly sweet (yuck). I guess I shouldn't have expected that savory homemade seafood cocktail sauce we have tasted in the west coast (Puerto Vallarta) that we loved so much. Garlic shrimp tacos were good. Horchata was also from the store type...cheap stuff, not homemade. When the bill came out I noticed they wrote the total including 20% tip without saying it. That...

Woo !! What a experience .. such a hidden gem..

We tried fish, prawns and veggies tacos.. also the lobster grill.. everything was truly amazing. We got to choose the lobster and it was prepared right away in front of us.

The service is amazing, the recommendations are spot on.

Truly enjoyed the Mexican flavors and local dining experience.
