I've lived in PDC for over a year, and I've had some of the best toasted delicious tortas, with meat that's grilled right in front of me, in my life - and been in absolute heaven.
I got a torta from here, and because it was a restaurant, and well-rated, I expected a torta that was going to be much better than the 40peso (with cheese!) price I'm used to paying at the street vendors. Boy was I disappointed!!!
The 'torta' I got was soggy bread (despite my asking the restaurant specifically to toast it) and fell apart in my hands, and there was way too much meat - which would normally be great - except all the meat was overcooked; hard, chewy, and inedible. Their hot sauce was just extremely hot without any flavor, and their green salsa had no flavor whatsoever either.
Basically, this was one of the WORST tortas I've had in over a year of living in PDC. I highly recommend that you DO NOT ever try this restaurant!!!
There are Street Taco stands that have WAY better tortas (try the one on Calle40 x Ave30!) than this restaurant - all at 40MXN)/torta over these restaurant's subpar tourist trap food. Don't waste your money on this restaurant, their food...
Read moreStumbled upon Ay Taco last night because our original plan got squashed. We were going to have a nice sit down dinner and were prepared to pay for ambiance and all that North American bs.
Managed to google this last minute option. Boy, were we glad we came to this local eatery!
The staff were very friendly and accommodating with our questions about the menu. Lines do build quickly, but we luckily just dodged one around 10:30pm. This place is bumping!
Don’t believe we saw any tourists aside from ourselves, so this was a terrific choice.
We were totally blown away by the tacos, burritos and everything on the menu. It was all so so delicious. The volcano crispy tacos was probably our favourite. The flavours were so aromatic and the mixture of textures were just perfect!
The burrito did not fall short either, two of us maybe ate enough for 3-4. Walked away happy but beyond...
Read moreSummary: THE BEST FOOD, THE BEST TACOS. GO HERE IMMEDIATELY!
Food: Fantastic food, amazing, satisfactory. The best torta, the best tacos. I recommend everyone to visit this place. I cannot say enough good things. This was top 3 best places we found when in Playa del Carmen.
Price: affordable. Nothing unexpected. Regardless, pay whatever they ask because the food is delicious and worth it.
Location: A short walk from Playa del Carmen beach, about 7-10 minutes. We were able to dine in and there were no lines to wait to order. The service was quick too, the servers were nice.
Do not sleep on this place, visit it early on in your stay so you can come back several times before you leave Playa del Carmen. Thats the best advice i can give. This was better than many up-scale establishments on the main road. Don’t waste your money there, come...
