Osteria de Roma — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

Two of us ate on a Thursday night around 8pm. They sat us right away on the back patio, which was quiet and pleasant. Menu is large and had options for vegetarian and gluten free guests. We started with a delicious trio of bruschetta, and each ordered pasta. The gnocchi sorrentina and aglio, olio & pepperoncino. The pasta was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and the preparations were nice. The gnocchi was very cheesy, a little more than my wife preferred, and a little saucy for my taste, but nothing you can't clean up with the bread service they provide. The aglio y olio was very well done, which is surprisingly rare to find as it is a simple yet technical preparation that requires a cook to knows their pasta. (I'm a chef and picky about my pasta, too!)

Service was wonderful and Guadalupe was very attentive and helpful with questions about the menu as my wife is a vegetarian. She couldn't decide between wines and Guadalupe was kind enough to let her try her options before ordering.

We ordered a tasty tiramisu to-go and they even brought us a couple of complimentary sweet bites at the end of our meal. The couple next to us was celebrating a birthday and the whole staff came to sing and celebrate with them.

To top the evening off be sure to say hello to Max, the sweetest resident pup in Playa, who lounges about patiently waiting for the next dog lover to scratch his ears.

We found this gem of a restaurant after reading a lot of their reviews. In this case the reviews are correct, this place is the real deal.

We've been fortunate to work in Italy and when you walk in here you feel like you've walked out of Playa and into Roma- it's amazing.

The food (and wine) is outstanding. Their antipasto for two was so good! Everything they give you is homemade and done with pride and caring.

They gave us a slice of their pizza and it was outstanding...just so ROME!!

Cacio e pepe and Bucatini amatriciana were cooked perfectly to al dente and delicious.

Even though we were stuffed, we had to have dessert. Their tiramisu was not espresso enough for me, but yummy nonetheless.

The couple that owns this gem, Fabrizio and Federica take care of every table, plus they have an excellent, professional wait staff.

Our only complaint was we didn't discover this place until our last night in Playa...or we would have eaten here several times. In fact a four top that sat next to us had eaten there six nights in a row.
