Title: Mixed Experience at Eladio's: Great Location, Inconsistent Service My husband and I recently visited Eladio's during our vacation to visit family, and while the restaurant boasts a prime location by the beach, our experience was a mixed bag. Let's start with the positives. The setting of Eladio's is undeniably beautiful, with the beach just a stone's throw away, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for a relaxed meal. The ambiance is welcoming, and the beachfront view adds a special touch to the dining experience. However, our dining experience was marred by several issues. Firstly, the service at Eladio's is inconsistent and heavily dependent on the waiter you happen to get. While some staff members were attentive and friendly, others seemed disinterested and even borderline rude, especially during our visit closer to closing time. We arrived around 7 p.m., only to find out that they were not accepting any more customers since they close at 8. This inflexibility left a sour taste in our mouths and made us feel unwelcome. Additionally, the quality of the food did not live up to our expectations. The pizzas, in particular, were undercooked, and the overall menu offerings left much to be desired. It seems that going to Eladio's in the afternoon, especially around 7 p.m., might not be the best idea as the staff's attitude tends to deteriorate, and the food quality suffers. While our recent experience at Eladio's was disappointing, I believe that visiting during normal dining hours might provide a better experience. Perhaps during the day, when the kitchen is fully operational and the staff are more accommodating, Eladio's could shine as a destination for good food with a stunning view. In conclusion, Eladio's has its pros and cons. The beachfront location is undoubtedly its biggest asset, offering a picturesque backdrop for dining. However, the inconsistent service and subpar food quality, especially in the later hours, detract from the overall experience. If you decide to give Eladio's a try, I would recommend visiting during regular dining hours to maximize your chances of a positive experience. Lastly I would love to have light when the food is served was very dark!

December 5, 2017. From a Carnival Cruise tourist couple. Server was phenomenal. Was seated right on the beach with sand under my feet. What wasn't good is the coconut shrimp. It was overcooked and chewy. Minus 1 star. Properly cooked shrimp should have a snap. I am sure this was frozen not fresh as we were told. It was however a very pretty plate as you can see from my pictures. They offered us enough samples to make a meal. Bad thing about being seated where we were was the seller hawking their tourist trinkets. Some of them just wouldn't take no as an answer. I feel the workers should do a better job of keeping them a bay at least while you're trying to eat. Minus 1 star. Otherwise it wasn't too bad was beautiful ocean view. Next time we will eat here again.

It’s a very nice place by the beach, the staff is very friendly and accommodating, however, the food is not the best. The concept is quite simple: if you order drinks they will serve you “botanas” and they serve you A TON of food, between 7-9 small plates with food including ceviche, tamales, tacos, enchiladas, potatoes, etc. However because it is free it’s not the best quality and neither is the food that you order and pay for. If you are looking to get some drinks, have some quick bites and stay under budget I’d encourage you to go here BUT if you’re looking for a tasty meal by the beach this is not the place for you.

Four of us visited on a non-cruise ship day which is very important because of potential client volumes. No wait time even thought there were many locals and the seats filled fast. Seating under the solid roof or canopy is best for a light breeze. Inside seating can be warmer but not as pleasant. Service was excellent. Beer was very cold. Lots of delicious snacks. Breaded shrimp and shrimp cocktail was great, even had some leftover because the meals were of large portions. Clean, complete washrooms. Plenty of parking, IF you get there before noon. Recommend, but on a non-cruse ship day only.

The restaurant, situated in a spacious palapa, offers a lovely beach view. Be aware that it can get quite crowded during the lunch hour on weekends. If you’re coming with a large group, it’s advisable to reserve a table in advance. The service is fast and attentive. While you wait for your main dishes, you'll be served a variety of starters. Be cautious not to order too much, as the portions are generous. During my visit, there were musicians performing, and many people were dancing, which added to the lively atmosphere. I enjoyed the ambience of this place.

You wont want to miss grabbing a bite at this place in Progreso. The botanos alone will fill you up. You can just order drinks, and they will keep plying you with traditional botanos to have at. It is a huge place, popular thereabouts, with the beach practically a stone’s throw away. Highly recommend trying this one out. Reasonably priced, lots of tables, but you arent cramped with the other patrons. Knocked off one star because of the flies freely swarming about; otherwise, dont miss stopping by!
