Unico Beach — Restaurant in Puerto Morelos

My wife and I arrived on Sunday around 11:30am or so. We expected it to be busy, but it didn't appear to be that bad actually. There were a lot of chairs on the beach available. After seating us on beach chairs and then telling us we actually couldn't sit there as they were reserved, they sat us at the bar and assured us we would get chairs on the beach shortly.

The drinks and service at the bar were excellent. I especially enjoyed the margarita. But then it turned into that episode of Seinfeld with the Chinese restaurant where they keep saying " it'll be about 5-10 minutes".

In 15 minute increments they kept saying 15 mins more until we would have chairs. During this time multiple people came up to the bar and asked for drinks or food, since the waiters weren't coming to the beach chairs. That wasn't a good sign...

After waiting a little over 2hrs, my wife approached the waitress and asked what was up. They said there were 5 groups ahead of us and that we probably wouldn't get a seat. We totally understand that it's a busy day, but really didn't appreciate being lied to so we would spend money at the bar. We would have been happy to come back on a better day. But by that point, all other places in the area were filled so we returned home to Playa so we could get some food.

As we left, we still saw multiple chairs on the beach empty but reserved...

We stopped by to this beach occasionally by a local guide recommendation. We were seeking a good place for snorkeling and Unico beach exceeds our expectations! Snorkeling instructor Jesus is the best! We went to the sea despite the fact it was only 2 of us and probably it wasn't very profitable for them (normally it's 5-6 people in the boat). Jesus and his assistant were so helpful and attentive! We stopped at 2 reefs and could see turtles, lobsters, fish different colors and size, it was very beautiful! Jesus guided us all the time and once see smth interesting trying to show us, he was also so excited! We even have a rase for a shark! Couldn't catch it unfortunately but we were close.

A couple of drawbacks - had to wait almost 30 minutes for Cesar salad, but it was tasty and the portion was very big! and nobody could tell us how much time we need to wait for a boat(since they have only 1 boat for snorkeling). We were waiting for 1.5 hours but they tell us 5-10 mins. Food, drinks, and towels rent are...

Went there w a couple of friends for lunch - not our first time there but first time after covid. They took our orders for drinks and food. The drinks came out quick enough. After 30 minutes, we inquired about the food and the waiter comes back and asks if we want to cancel our order and we said no. Claimed they were too busy when we arrived, some people were on the beach lounge chairs having drinks but no one having lunch on sit down tables. so it looked like 90% of people only required drinks (not too many new ones so already been there). Shortly after we asked about the food our appetizer (guacamole) came out - The waiter still suggested we should cancel if we are not happy. The food came out 10 minutes later after this (total 40 min). They sun was too strong to wait for 30 minutes to get appetizer and 40 minutes to get our food. And on top of it, waiter suggested If you are not happy, leave. Not a cheap either, food is ok but not worth the experience. Probably last time...
