La Hydra by Gigi Pizzeria y Cinema — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

Walked past this place on the way to my AirBNB and noticed they had a wood-fired grill, I am a huge fan of wood-fired pizza so I decided to order a simple Margherita Pizza. It was phenomenal, the ingredients were so fresh and the crust was cooked perfectly. I decided to take me two friends for brunch the next morning. Me and homeboy got the breakfast sándwich, he got a juice and I got flat white. Not flat white was creamy and foamy and his juice was so refreshing in the morning. My home girl wasn’t feeling to well so she settled for the fruit plate with honey oats. She loved it, made her stomach feel much better. I keep Coming back for the juices, pasta(Carbonara is not favorite), and the pizzas.( ive been customizing my pizzas with Pineapple, Mushrooms, and pepperoni.) The servers and the owner here, are so attentive. They are constantly ensuring you are satisfied without being overbearing. The servers are so personal and down to earth, they like to befriend their customers which I love. Our most recent visit was after a long day of Scuba diving and the servers poured us a FAT shot of their house mezcal with Sal de Gusano and it was SO smooth. It definitely hit the spot after a long day of scuba diving, on the walk home we were all giggly and then the mezcal hit. It knocked us out! Just one shot of the mezcal !! LOL. I HIGHLY recommend if you’re in the area to stop by. ( I dont have a picture of the pizza...

Food was bland ..pizza 🍕 ingredients were just blah the pepperoni was not good I’m from Chicago we know pizza ..cheap ingredients we ordered 2 of the cobra drinks the texture was like if I was drinking something with seeds or sand in it we asked the waiter if we could change our drinks to a basic margaritas he SAID NO we didn’t even argue .. after we eat our pizza we asked for the bill they still charged us for the drinks witch were not expensive but still we literally both took 1 sip each were like 🤮gross after we asked if we could change our drinks the waiter didn’t ask if we wanted some water nothing we had to ask another waitress lady for the bill ..definitely not come back .. also I was reading comments about the breakfast being good .. try a place down the street called… ((burrrio amor ))).. we eat there the other day everything was excellent Food wait staff trust me I eat out a lot as a tourist first impression is always the best esp when 99 percent of the eco system in tulum is bases...

After biking by countless times, wondering what this little gem was, we finally stopped in with friends to check it out.

And oh, was it lovely! Absolutely incredible stone-oven pizza, amazing crust and sauce, affordable beers and mezcal. The lush garden setting with big palm leaves and bistro lights made the vibe cosy, romantic and FUN.

Not to mention the service. They were all SO KIND, super nice, in the end they even gave us a little treat that completely caught us by surprise and won us over completely 🥃.

We can’t wait to go back again for the people, the pizza, the atmosphere and the good times. Muchas gracias equipo Hydra! Todo fue increíble. Nos vemos...
