16 TULUM — Attraction in Quintana Roo

I Just left 16Tulum and had my wedding there and it was simply amazing. The moment I entered, I felt like I was transported to a new world. The hosts (Alex and Laura) were just the best, and their hospitality was top notch. The 2 kindest and caring people I have met. They were constantly checking in on us to make sure if everything was going to plan, they understood weddings can be stressful so they were often on standby and ready to help out at a moments notice. They recommended their Chef Luca to help cook for us and the breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend having at least one meal prepared by him. We also requested a guide for the cenotes and they introduced us to Mehdi who brought us to this private subterrain cenote. I don't want to spoil anything as it was a magical experience. Mehdi was the best, and knowledgeable guide who took the time to plan out the best experience for us, he wasn't just trying to rush us from point A to point B, but tried to really make sure we had a great time. The rooms were private, and very comfortable even during the high temperatures. We were only a few min away from the main street or the beach road so getting to places was extremely easy. I could not recommend this place enough to anyone interested in staying. There was a moment my wife thought she lost her ring, immediately Laura sprang into action, and the cleaners helped us look for the ring box. You could see that they were just as worried as we were but to no fault of theirs, we found the ring inside my jacket pocket. My wife and I had forgotten we had kept it there the night before and it meant a lot to us that they genuinely were concerned and started searching everywhere for it. Can't thank Alex and Laura and their staff for being so great and making us feel welcomed and safe. The whole experience was amazing and hope anyone interested will check this hidden paradise out.

As i'm posting this, I noticed the previous reviews of it being unsafe and I'm perplexed as to how anyone could get robbed here. The doors are 10+ in of concrete wall with massive steel locks, there is electric wire fencing all around the compound. The walls are 12ft+ high, there are security cameras everywhere and on top of that, they have hired security guards inside and outside the facility. So unless you left the door open, or invited a stranger inside, I'm not sure how anyone who wasn't supposed to get in would actually get in. This place is literally a mini fort knox. We felt perfectly safe the entire duration...

I can not in good faith recommend staying at Villa 16 Tulum or using Travel Experimental for any travel bookings. Our house was robbed while staying there, resulting in 2 of my friends having their passports, jewelry, electronics, and other belongings stolen. The company ensured we would have 24/7 security which is a big reason we booked with them. The first night in their residence, we noticed the lack of security, to which they informed us they were unprepared and did not have security (ergo breaching our agreement). After expressing our discomfort, they hired a friend of the family to be our security guard. That same friend of the family was seen on the security footage covering the video camera, allowing an unauthorized person to enter the villa on the night of the robbery. The company has assumed no responsibility for the fact that people were robbed on their property, the fact that they did not have security present when that was a required part of the agreement, or the fact that their hired individual acted out of bad faith and suspiciously (for which we can only assume was the robber, or helped his friend who enter rob us). We gave them ample opportunities to amend the situation financially and/or otherwise, for which they refused.

Edit based on their response below: "Reported difficulties" instead of acknowledging a robbery of passports and valuables on your property is ridiculous. The security guard was a maintenance worker that you were friends with after you were ill prepared with real security (we have text proof of this). We also have the footage of this "real security guard" covering the front camera allowing an unauthorized person inside (go to @lexihailey_ tiktok video to see the camera footage). Your continuous refusal to accept any responsibility is astounding. They did not accompany you to the police station because we all felt your actions were suspicious. Again, I would not recommend...

I am truly impressed with 16TULUM, as it stands out as one of the most relaxing and luxurious villas I have ever had the pleasure to host my experiences in. The accommodations are top-notch, featuring king beds in each room, with 4 of the rooms even boasting their plunge pools. The minimalistic design and open showers truly embody the essence of relaxation and comfort.

Alex, the owner, demonstrates exemplary dedication to his guests. From reaching out a few days before our arrival to personally greeting us upon check-in, he exemplifies the ideal host. His exceptional communication and genuine concern for our well-being was greatly appreciated, as he checked in with us regularly during our stay.

He notified me that I left my sunglasses behind after checking out, Alex went above and beyond to reunite me with them. Instead of accepting shipping payment, he kindly drove an hour out of his way to deliver them to me at a gas station while I was en route to the airport.

In short, 16TULUM is an extraordinary villa offering an unparalleled luxury experience.
