Quartieri Holbox — Restaurant in Quintana Roo

We have been here two times. First time was a great experience of good food tasting nothing like the Mexican cuisine, but really Italian. Sadly the second time was the worst experience we had in a restaurant since coming to Mexico. To be front: we have had to wait for over an hour, this is a pizza joint and they didn’t have any pizza dough and the pasta was underwhelming.

We arrived and were told the restaurant was full, so we had to wait a little but could check the menu and could order a drink. Nobody came to take our order, the three ladies at the entrance were too occupied with themselves to look at the guests. We also had to let them know a table was available and after sitting for an hour we could finally order our food.

We were told there was no more pizza dough, so we could only order pasta. If only they would’ve told us an hour ago, we could have searched for a different restaurant. A group after us was able to order a pizza and after serving time we noticed that the waitress that said the pizza dough was gone was eating pizza herself. I’m sorry but that is just poor service.

After waiting for another 45 minutes we finally received our pastas and boy were we disappointed. The carbonara did not taste like carbonara. It tasted like cream and cheese without seasoning and a little bit of bacon. Nothing like a good carbonara with guanciale, egg (yolk) and black pepper. We were so disappointed we skipped the deserts and asked for the check.

While waiting for our check we saw the waitress handle two other tables and we had to ask again because she had forgotten about us. The experience was so bad I would no longer recommend anyone to go here, there are far better places at Holbox. Owner is fresh off the boat via a plane from Italy……Napoli mind you. Yea. The real 🇮🇹 Italy. A legit a Italian on the å island of Isla Holbox. Place is super cute and quaint. Wonderfully appointed space with numerous fans to combat the notorious mosquitoes 🦟 on the island. We didn’t feel any but nonetheless maybe it was the fans. Owner personally took out orders and was hands on with 90% of the dinners. The Pesto Pistachio Rigatoni pasta is spot on especially with limited resources in the area. A must order. The fried pizza dough with marinara sauce. Yes yes yes. Order. Think like a doughnut married pizza dough and fought over the icing and Marinara won. It’s delightful. Pizza dough is immaculate…..we went with the lobster 🦞“langosta”as they call it here. I will say as pineapple 🍍 maybe lobster 🦞 doesn’t go in pizza 🍕 but claim to fame is locally they invented this trend. Quartieri really knocks it out the park with adding some basil and mint with zested lime table side. Yea. I said table side. Was it great. Yes. Would I pass on getting the lobster pizza again yes and ficus in their other specialty pizzas 💯% #lobsterdoesntbelimgonpizza 😉 cocktails were in point the passion fruit margarita was as spectacular. Wonderful Italian option on the island!

Quartieri has everything you might want from the Italian Cuisine, from homemade pasta to wonderful pizza, everything tastes fresh and delicious!

The Luisiana Octopus is the star of the restaurant, amazing option to start your dinner.

The service is a bit slow and the staff is not enough or not well organize for the busy hours, however they are kind and warm on the service even that you have to call them several times, the bartender takes a lot of time For himself during the preparation, the drinks are really good tho!

The only disappointment was the dessert, the cheese cake is not baked as you could expect from a restaurant like this and not tasty at all! Better try a tiramisu or something more traditional and ask first!

The live music is the cherry on the cake, chill and perfect for your dinner, totally...
