Holbox Dream Front was excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. As soon I walked to reception to check in, they were very welcoming and hospitable. ||I reserved my panoramic view room which I was super excited and looking forward to have a view by the beach specially waking up early in the morning and sitting in the hammock, however, there is only one room that actually has that view and It was not mine. Reason why is because they build a wall for another terrace that's blocking the panoramic view. Don't get me wrong, I have a view of the beach but it's not panoramic. ||This is very important, which I know it has nothing to do with the Hotel or the staff, but please please find a way to update reservations in case of hurricane or any potential storms. I usually check the forecast before I travel, and for some reason nothing popped up on my phone as far as hurricane. When we arrived, electricity was out for like 30 min which I know it's out of hands but considering the fact this island is 2 hrs from Cancun and then 30 min fairy ride, basically you are stuck on the island after 9pm. ||Breakfast was good except everything has ham or pork in it. Some people don't eat that, maybe you can work on this also considering that you have tourists from all over the world. ||I booked 2 days then renewed another because I really loved the island and I was lucky enough that the hurricane passed the night before I arrived. Also the streets were flooded. Keep in mind this island has no cars and only golf carts or 4 wheelers, which is super cool. I Renewed my room reservation to a bigger room with a jacuzzi, however it's inside the resort and not by the front beach view. ||Hotel is a walking distance from everything, bars, restaurants and different resorts. ||The first morning, walking by the beach, I saw most of the front resorts destroyed by the hurricane. I have to give 10 stars for the people of the island to build everything and back to normal in 2 days. YES!! 2 days and all resorts are full. ||I had an amazing time and experience on this island. It's beautiful, lots to do, nice restaurants and bars, music, nice people, lots of tourists and dancing on the streets. Ibwas lucky to be there when they had a carnival. ||Sunsets are beautiful. Different species of birds and many activities but check the season for those activities. Some might not be available. ||I recommend these restaurants ||Pianapol: if you want a Breakfast place, check it , nice staff, menu is great and lots of healthy choices. ||Monono: sushi , nice place for a date. ||Hot corner: live salsa band, drinking and music ||La combi: Great salsa band , drinks||Martin and Santos: Argentinian cuisine , steaks, perfect for a nice fancy date on the island, reservation is needed. ||Lastly I want to thank Javi for taking care of us at the Holbox Beach resort , he is the bar manager, he was an excellent host, and went above and beyond. Ask for him when you book their. ||Hotel prices are decent and acceptable comparing to others. Keep in mind it's a secluded island and it's not cancun...

Your experience will really vary based on the room you get and weather during your stay. I recommend requesting a specific room in advance and looking at the room before accepting it once you get there to make sure everything works.

The decor of the rooms is simple and trendy. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable. King size beds in most rooms. Sheets are white and crisp. Everything is clean and tidy. Some rooms have private balconies. Most have hammocks and outlets on each side of the bed. The beach club is nice too and you can see the sunset if you look left from the beach. The rooms with water views and private balconies upstairs are best. They’re also away from the breakfast area, so quieter. The staff are all very friendly and always ready to chat and help.

Unfortunately, our room #26 had several issues that they couldn’t resolve, so we were left to deal with a toilet that doesn’t refill on its own after flushing for all 6 days, which I find unacceptable when paying $170/night. No discount offered. Other very minor issues were weak shower pressure (not the case in all rooms), closed up outlet on one side of the bed, bad lighting in the bathroom, etc. Some towels are nice and fluffy and some are old. Water bottles aren’t provided daily. In fact, we had two when we checked in but one was removed by cleaning staff later, weirdly. Also, many rooms face the hostel next door, which means very loud music most nights past midnight.

We stayed for 5 nights over Christmas and weather was colder and windy, so the beach area was unusable and had lots of seaweed all over the sand. I would say if that’s the case, paying a premium for a beachfront property on this part of the beach is not worth it. I assume it’s better at other times, but generally the best beach with no seaweed or waves is by Villas Caracol. That’s where we’d stay next time. If beach here is usable, we’d only stay at rooms 21-25 upstairs with private balconies and water views at the front of the property.

The daily breakfast is a plate of fruit and different types of eggs. Plus a juice. Everyone gets the same thing. Coffee is not good and should be improved with an espresso machine when rooms go up to $300+ per night.

The two pools are small and there are no loungers by them, so not usable really for adults, when the beach is not great like during our stay. Would have been better to build one larger pool and to leave room...

My stay at this property wasn't BAD but it could've been a lot better. First off, I asked for towels 3 times and finally was brought some. I don't think they have a backup stash so when everyone checks out, they must wash and dry them and then distribute them. That was really annoying because most people shower with washcloths I would think... I did bring my own because I had read other reviews about it. Still, was annoying. My main issue was after traveling in a plane for hours, taking a boat taxi to the isle, then an ATV taxi to the hotel, when we finally got into the room (they won't let you check in early at all so don't even try, but they will hold your bags for you) but the AC did not work!!! I called the office, they said they would send someone, no one came. I went to the office myself and complained and someone finally came to "check it" and I don't even know what he did. He said he was going upstairs to check it, but never came back. As the evening fell, we left the hotel to cool off and explore the island, when I started to feel sick to my stomach. While we were waiting for our room to be ready, we grabbed a bite at the bar (shrimp) and I don't know if it was that that made me sick, perhaps the water from the bar or the heat from being in the room with no AC, but it sucked to say the least. I had not eatin anything prior to that so it had to be something there. The electricity went out on then island and I dk what happened after that but when it came back on, the AC finally blew cold air. Other than that!!! Most of the people were super nice and helpful, just wished the AC worked better. There is also no TV in the room. The beach is literally a few steps away from your room no matter what room you have so that was super nice! The beach on the Isle is nice bc there...

About the island: What’s not to love about Hoblox? It’s a beautiful beach island. Rumor has it it will be the next Tulum. Holbox is still very much a developing island. Meaning there are no paved roads or cars on the island (yet ;-)) The vehicles used are golf carts or delivery trucks. Although you can get WiFi on the island, there is only one ATM for cash (you will need cash for tips etc) and very few hotels with televisions. If you want fancier or modern amenities this may not be the island for you. Hotel review: We booked a room with 2 beds. Unfortunately, the room was dark, dated and had no TV nor view. We asked to change and was told that that room was the only room on the property that had two beds. Fortunately, when we inquire to see if there was a one bedroom available we were taken to a much nicer and brighter room steps away from the beach. Once we got settled in our stay was very good. Pros: Great drinks. Right on the beach. Good food. Friendly staff Cons: Not as polished as it looked in the images (understandable for an developing island). *Also, I still haven’t received my 100. deposit back from the hotel and it has been nearly 2 months. I am hoping that they will resolve that soon.

My review is based on my dining experience at the beach club ONLY. Choosing a hotel in Holbox is stressful but we decided to stay at the Mystique. Just a short walk away we were hungry and tired from our travels all the way from Akumal. We just wanted to eat and then get back to our hotel for check-in and some rest and relaxation. As we were walking along the beach as recommended by our hotel concierge due to the recent rains that caused some flooding via the streets, when we were lured into this place by the huge sign on the beach. It was a cute and cozy spot, not super busy and beach front. The fried fish was priced right and my son went digging in the sand. The food was excellent - at least what we ordered. The fish was chili spiced with garlic and it was superb. The salad and mashed potatoes - delish and our margarita - perfect. The service was impeccable. I have zero complaints. The food was so good, we returned on our final night. Hands down some of the best fried fish we’ve had in all of Mexico. And our son - a hamburger connoisseur - enjoyed his burger and fries. We would return again. I hope you find this review helpful. If so, give me a thumbs up. Thanks
