Restaurante del Parque — Restaurant in San Miguel de Allende

If I were to describe my meal at Restaurante del Parque in one word, it would be “perfection”! Rarely have I enjoyed my overall meal experience in a restaurant as much as this one: the service was gracious, friendly, and attentive; the food was exquisite; and the atmosphere quiet and romantic — the setting is a covered terrace with a view of the beautiful garden. Our waiter Jesse was very knowledgeable about the menu, which featured the specialties of Oaxaca and Puebla. He did a table side preparation of salsa for us, and then described to us in detail all of the menu items and their ingredientes. He recommended appropriate wines to pair with our food selections, after which the wine steward/bartender Manuel brought us several samples so we could choose the wine we liked best. We spent the day sightseeing and I wanted to go to a restaurant that we had never been to before. This did not disappoint. We stopped in around 3pm and this became our meal of the day. Open air to the garden made it feel like it was outdoors yet sheltered. We bought a bottle of Mexican Sauvignon Blanc which was decent and unremarkable. The guacamole appetizer was delicious. We visited Restaurante del Parque for the TACOGRAPHY taco pop-up. At first, we were disappointed to learn only pork tacos were available, but the night turned around quickly. Jesse, our server, was excellent. The setting was beautiful and peaceful. We started with an amuse-bouche tortilla with cheese and tomato, followed by a cactus salad, a flavorful local whitefish, and shrimp with plantain chips and white rice.
