Read moreIf Mexican food roots are 'lack of flavor' then this is the right place to eat at.
We were referred to this place by some people who call themselves 'foodies'. My hopes where high and I was expecting to find good Mexican food at this place. Our plan was to start with some 'samples' and work our way up the menu if it was worth it. We didn't make it pass the 1st dish.
I ordered a Quesadilla de/con Mole amarillo. The tortilla was either old or was made with maseca flour, not with your regular corn from el Molino de Nixtamal. The cheese was store bought, not natural quesillo. The mole was flavorless, no spices at all, not even salt and it was wrapped with acuyo leaf that was the only thing that kinda brought some flavor to the quesadilla.
My friend ordered enfrijoladas. Again, the flavor was missing, the tortillas felt old and even though it looked cute for an IG picture it didn't really tasted like anything. The frijoles... yikes, even La Costena has more flavour in one can than whatever it was that we ate.

Read moreAn absolutely delightful and inventive take on traditional Mexican cuisine! The “Poached Eggs Ahogados” were a standout—served in a rich, savory guajillo sauce with tender diced potatoes, fresh nopales, avocado, and a beautiful garnish of pickled red onions. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were layered and thoughtful. The dish is accompanied by house-made corn tortillas and “frijoles de la olla”—you’ll want to be sure to ask for them, as they’re not brought automatically. The black beans, topped with crunchy “chile macho” roasted with garlic, added an unexpected and delicious texture. While I waited for the sides to arrive and my eggs firmed up a bit, the overall experience and bold, authentic flavors more than made up for it. A must-try spot for anyone looking for a creative and elevated spin on...
