A Stunning Sunset, But That's About It
I recently dined at Rooftop Selina, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the moment we were seated, it felt like we stepped into a perfect storm of poor service and lackluster food preparation.
To start, our waiter somehow forgot to submit our order entirely. We waited a whole hour just for our appetizers to arrive, and there was no regular check-in to see how we were doing, which only added to the frustration. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you're left sitting there, wondering if your order was ever placed.
When the main courses finally arrived, I was met with further disappointment. I ordered a steak, which was served cold and swimming in grease. It was far from the juicy, flavorful dish I had anticipated—a real letdown. The rest of my party shared similar sentiments about their meals, which only compounded the unfortunate experience.
On the bright side, the only redeeming quality of Selinas Rooftop was the breathtaking sunset that painted the sky while we waited for our food. But as picturesque as it was, the view alone does not make up for the terrible service and subpar dining experience.
Overall, I would not recommend Rooftop Selina. There are simply too many other dining options where you can get both good food and attentive service. I certainly won't be returning. Save your time and money; the sunset is best...
Read moreWe came in the evening of 10/17/23 and the restaurant had horrible service and mediocre food/drinks. It was my first time visiting San Miguel de Allende and I picked this place instead of Quince because it seemed like it had better service after reading the reviews but clearly i was wrong. We got there and the server told us to pick a table and he watched us struggle to set up a table for 6 then he finally came over and helped us. One of the chairs the server pulled in was uncomfortable and different from the rest he pulled in. my dad(who is older) asked if he could switch it for a comfortable that was right next to us and server told him no and walked away. Right off the bat the server seemed irritated for having to do his job. The restaurant was mostly empty so it wasn’t like he was busy. We ordered cocktails and they were only half full and not even dressed. The food came and the pasta portion was small and covered in olives with hardly any flavor. The burger was alright but not worth the price. The barbacoa was the only good thing but even the portion for 2 was very small. The only good part was the view which you can get at a number of other rooftop restaurants. To top it all off, we realized that they charged us twice and we’ve been trying to get a hold of them for the extra charge and they won’t pick up the phone. Don’t waste your time...
Read moreVisited last night around sunset time. The views are stunning and the receptionist super friendly. Once ordered, the drinks arrived 25 minutes later… we ordered some guacamole which turn out very quickly and by the time the drinks arrived was already gone. Tasteless smashed avocado with some sprinkle chopped tomatoes and some coriander on top. Probably the worst guacamole I ever tasted in Mexico. When the octopus tacos arrived 45 minutes later it was cold and the tortilla most likely Old broke when folded. Dry, cold and tasteless as well. In the meantime seeing one of the chef leaving the kitchen twice to go and have a beer at the bar exposed to all customers. Very unprofessional and dangerous to go back to the kitchen and handle knifes while drinking alcohol on service. I count 5 people working in the kitchen, 3 servers, 1 bar tender, 1 person only in charge of taking payments and at least 2 supervisors. All this for less than 30 customers. Unfortunately the view from the roof top was let down by the level of service, food and drinks. At 50 US dollar for 2 drinks and 2 snacks is better to go somewhere else. I visited few roof tops in the city and they are much better options than this place. Can’t recommend it at all. Please avoid if you don’t want to be...
