Our driver for the day was the brother to the owner of this place. I told him I didn't want to eat where all the tourists eat and that I wanted something authentic that the locals would eat. They have several tables inside and we were lucky enough to be able to fit our group of 12 inside. Service was great. Fortunately I speak Spanish, which was a big help. No menus were available and the cooks brought me back in to the kitchen to show me the food they were making so we could help all the little kids in our group order. The food was delicious and did taste like homemade Mexican food that I have had in the homes of people living in the US, but native to Mexico. I was pleased with that aspect. I also noted that no other tourists showed up while we were there and many locals walked in off the street for lunch while we were there.
When it was time for the bill, they had to confer for a good 15 minutes. This is my only "complaint". The price was a bit high in my opinion. Since there was no menu with pricing, it felt like they charged us based on what they felt we might be willing to pay. I don't believe for a minute that I paid what locals were paying for the same items. That said, I'm not upset about it. I hope that the money we spent was a blessing to these...
Read more1st the price. Totally fair and for sure under priced for what you get. This was like eating at your gmas house in the front living room. Sat down had a bowl a spicy noddle soup to start and a pitcher of tea before we even had the menus. Portions were big and filling. You're not leaving there hungry. I will say the refried beans were delicious even my wife who hates refried beans ate all of hers. Flavors were amazing as you would expect from your gma. Service was friendly and efficient. Bring a spanish speaker to help you as this is mexico. If you want authentic mexican home cooked food, come here. Your belly and taste buds will be happy when you leave. Again the price...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious. We came here as part of a shore excursion with Carnival Cruise Line. The next day, we were craving this delicious food. The soup was simple, but so good. I had the cactus. My husband had the "pulled pork." Sorry I don't remember the actual names. Lol After lunch we bought some flan (it wasn't part of our excursions cost, but should have been 😉 ). The glance was AMAZING and just perfect for after the meal. We hope to be able to visit this little place in Cozumel...
