The dive was absolutely great for the right price. The owner is really nice and the first guy we met as well.
Unfortunately we had a Dive Master who probably didn't like us so much. He did not treat us very well since the beginning. He just spoke to us when needed and only for the briefing. Not a word, no suggestions no questions and no interest towards us. Only answering with yes or no. No other exchange of words a part from the dive. I also tried to speak with him in his language because we had 1.5h of boat but no way... He was kind of grumpy all the time.
That is not how a Dive Master should behave with customers. Regretfully at the beginning I lost the cork of the cylinder and from that moment he started to act very badly. It was not his problem but mine to repay (and of course I did it at the end).
He did not treat very well even my gf who is not so experienced. He did not help at all and then was using as well a bad tone in saying things to her.
She had some problems in the equalise. In the first dive, I was a bit further and he pretended me to be there with her (I was like 2-3 meters below them. He is the dive master, he knows better than me what to do in this case). In the second dive, I helped to her to go slowly down while he was waiting below....
He is the Dive Master and if we pay I think he should help us. Then he "suggested" to do refresh before diving, but we told him since the beginning that she struggles a bit with equalise and once it is done, she is very good under water....
I am very sorry for the 3 stars because I think the rest of the team was really nice and overall...
Read moreWe did two dives in Cozumel with Plongee Grand Cozumel Diving. We also did a snorkelling tour through their partner tour agency which was great (thanks to Charlie and William!). The dive sites themselves were nice, we saw the wreck and the reef. The price was fairly reasonable. However couple of things to mention, they have 5% extra fee if you use PayPal or cards to make payment that they didn’t mention beforehand. You get to the dive site on a shared larger boat with divers and instructors from other dive shops, which is slower than the smaller boats, so it took around one hour to get to the first site. Note, you may not get the exact site you asked for, we asked to see the wreck in advance and they said “we will ask when we get to the boat”. Additionally the experience felt quite transactional from the dive shop to the time on the boat and back at the shop. Our dive master Tomy did the minimum required, E.g taking us to the marina, giving a briefing, guiding us around, but not much else if you’re looking for a more hands on experience. They also added extra cost $10 USD for a torch if you want to go dive the wreck or caves in the reef, which was only mentioned on the day and not included in the $20 USD...
Read moreWe did a refresh and 4 days of diving and had a wonderful experience on all of them. Our refresh instructor Matthieu helped me gain back my confidence to be in the water after an initial bout of panic when we first went under. Our dive master Judith went above and beyond on multiple occasions. On one of the dives our Go Pro strap broke on exit from the water and she jumped back in the water to retrieve it! Wow! All our dives were well managed and I felt very secure with her. The boat crew on Yucab II are friendly, helpful and encouraging. Great lunch prepared by them too. Julien the new owner / manager is easy to deal with and well organized. He is in the process of changing over the equipment rentals although the gear we rented was fine. Thanks to all of you for giving us a memorable vacation, the 2 visits from the dolphins during our dives will be something that I will never forget. Haste...
