We had a perfect beach day at Akiin with Henrry as our host. Unlike other clubs in the same area, Akiin didn’t require a minimum spend from guests. We got there early at 10am and could select our own bed in the shade which was perfect for a hot day. The non-alcoholic drinks that were not coffee were very good. They had seveal vegan food options for us. Wifi was fast so I was able to download books to read and plan our trip. The bathroom, which is one of the most important aspects for me, was very clean. We stayed for about 4 hours and our bill was MXN$1,460 including tips for 5 drinks and 3 dishes which was very reasonable for the area. The music could be improved (though it was not extremely loud and we could enjoy the sound of the waves) and the menu would have more vegan options, but we had a good time. Other guests were quiet and polite. Overall a great experience. UPDATE: We came back 2 days later and got the same bed. We couldn’t stay long and didn’t spend a lot, but our host (a different gentleman) was friendly and kind, just the same as Henrry. I don’t drink alcohol, so I ordered a mocktail from their cocktail menu, and to my surprise, they were so honest and gave us a steep discount on the drink (nearly 50%). Truly a great place to hang out at the beach.

The service, location and value was perfect. Food and drinks were pretty bad. Much cheaper than the beach clubs around. The beds had shade and were very comfortable. Min spending for the bed was 1000 mxn. The pizza was the worst I have eaten lately. As other reviews mentioned it is not made of fresh dough but was pretty bad store-bought frozen pizza. The tacos were not bad. The drinks were not so good but they had fresh coconuts. We made do to have a decent cocktail by ordering the ingredients separately and making our cocktail ourselves (coconut, rhum, lemon ...) overall we had a great day at this beach club despite the food and drinks being average, with respect with the price of the other beach clubs around it is a good choice if you are on a budget and just looking for a nice place to lounge by the beach with some shade. I would not recommend going there if food and drinks are what you're looking for. Even the limonade was disappointing.

First of all, I have to give my guy Gilberto a shout out! He is super sweet, down to earth and was never trying to finesse or upsell us. We were a relatively large group 2 out of the 3 times that we came to Akiin and as service/hospitality workers back in NYC, we really took note of that and took great care of him in return. The beach itself is absolutely stunning and the layout of the club is warm and enticing with great energy and house music to accompany it. As far as drinks, we ordered a bottle of Mezcal one of our visits and it was affordable and the staff made sure to refresh our ice/replenish cups/shots/mixes throughout our stay which really added a sense of awareness that I appreciated a lot! Also, in comparison to some of the other beach clubs on the strip, the prices were great and so was the quality. I would highly recommend you come here while you’re in Tulum, and also ask for Gilberto! Tell him we sent ya 😁

It is painful for me to say this, but the experience that I had with the staff of this place needs to be shared.

I came in to inquire about renting the space for a private party. The owner was eager to help and assigned me an event planner. She was very eager to help in the beginning, being very attentive and nice and answering all my questions. She sent me a list of the food and drinks but after explaining that I would like to bring in outside catering she became not as helpful...

When I asked for an image of the floor plan she said she will send it to me in a few days. After waiting a week or so and not hearing from her I reached out to her again in which she told me she switched departments and sent me to the new event planner.

When I spoke to the new event planner she told me I could not have the hours that I wanted, which the previous event planner said I could. She said the party had to end at 7pm. This was a deal breaker for me.

I asked to speak with the owner that I met the day I came in to inquire about the space. I was told that she was in charge of renting the space and I could not talk to the owner.

I wanted to rent the space for half a day 11am-11pm and was quoted $4,000 usd. I was going to pay it.

The whole experience and conversations seemed very suspicious. Especially how abruptly the help I was receiving stopped when I mentioned I was going to bring outside catering. Come to realize, from reading the passed reviews of this place, that so many guests have been sick from the food!!!

I feel so sorry for the owner, I definitely got...

The wait staff was amazing and so was the burgers and drinks. However I give it zero stars for the treatment we got when leaving this establishment, not from the wait staff but from their security. When walking in a security guy walked up to us and said there was no public beach access. My husband and I told him we were there for lunch and drinks. Fast forward a few hours later as we are leaving the same guy blocks my way asking if he can help me. He proceeds to rudely say "There's no free beach access." We asked him why he assumed we had just accessed the beach and not dined and he kept repeating there's no free beach access. There's was other people (Caucasian) walking in and out without being stopped. When we questioned him why he assumed we accessed the beach for free he responded by yelling out to his colleagues to call the police. The manager came to see what was happening and my husband demanded we get an apology from his Colleague that had singled us out. This experience was upsetting because not only did we eat and drink there but we also paid for parking and even rented beach towels at the same establishment. But more so at the fact that he stopped us and no one else which made us feel targeted. This was our second time in TULUM and it has was the first time we had a negative experience. We love Tulum and plan on going back but refuse to ever spend my money at an establishment that very openly...
