Overall experience 3.5
Service 5 just because of our server at the table was amazing he gets a 10. I did forget his name but he is a tall guy in his mid 40s maybe 50s he was exceptional with us !!! Shoutout to him.!
Food 4.5 Mostly everything we ordered was tasty. We ordered the tacos the pasta the chicken the ceviche etc I do have to say though that initially I was not loving the fact that they make you pay per person 2,500 pesos for a minimum consumption to sit at the table I felt forced to order and I felt rushed I couldn’t really enjoy our meal. Plus we kept ordering to the point we went over like 120+ on top of the initial payment. So about 600 dolars plus for 4 persons. Idk but it feels excessive when all we wanted was to eat something light and then party and drink. I felt heavy the whole night that we were there, just couldn’t enjoy like we wanted to do but the pressure is there and it makes you think that you have to eat it all, well you can’t is so much food that went to waste actually we ordered so much food I felt guilty for just leaving it there. They also searched us for everything like TSA when we came in btw Was not happy for that. But whatever. Just heads up on that. One of my friends fell coming out of the female bathroom because of some off stairs step lol while it was funny I just think they should look into fixing that. She mentioned there were many other ones almost falling because of it.
Atmosphere 4 Is a very cool almost like burning man feel but in Tulum. From the esthetics to the designs, to the beach just a great location and they know it.
Drinks at the bar overpriced 3 Ordered 2 Margs 65 lol… wow they were not even Cadillac or top shelf .! Wtf felt raped
Music 4.5 The djs were great, music was just doing the vibes.!
Cleanliness 4.5 The place looked clean from the food to bar and the bathrooms.
Would I go back? Maybe. I just wouldn’t get a table I can just eat some delicious tacos somewhere else and then go there for the dj music. Let’s just put it that way.! Do take my advice. You can have a great dinner...
Read moreWe went to Vagalume in Tulum last night for a DJ event, and overall, it was a good time. The entrance was smooth, no issues getting in, and the energy was solid right from the start.
They had a few pop-up tables or mini shops set up around the venue, selling clothes, accessories, etc. and that was actually a fun touch. We did a bit of window shopping (and actual shopping), which added something different to the usual nightlife vibe.
That said, the interior space and design weren’t the most beautiful we’ve seen in Tulum. The space planning felt a little awkward, especially with dinner tables placed right next to the dance floor. It was a bit uncomfortable seeing people trying to eat while others danced just inches away. The rest of the vendor tables were arranged kind of like a movie theatre, not the most cohesive layout.
Also… there were a lot of guys. Just groups of guys hanging out on the dance floor chatting, instead of actually dancing or enjoying the music. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely something we noticed.
Both DJs were good, though we won’t name names since the lineup changes nightly. Music was solid, and the crowd warmed up as the night went on. The beach setting means lots of sand, so dress accordingly. Washrooms were okay, nothing fancy but clean and easy to find.
Drinks were very average, but the service was great, lots of friendly, helpful staff, which we really appreciated.
One of the best parts? You get a stamp on your way in, so you can come and go as you please. We left after the first DJ to do a bit of bar hopping and then came back later for the second DJ. That flexibility was a huge plus.
In short: not the most stunning venue, but we had a good time. The vibe, the shopping stalls, and the friendly staff made it a fun...
Read moreAs first-time visitors to Tulum, we were already looking forward to the party that was to take place at the famous Vagalume Beach Club on Saturday yesterday (Jan 25).
We got the entry tickets via a website that promote parties in Tulum.
When we got there, they told us several times that the entry ticket was only for the party but that if we want a sunbed, we have have to book it separately. At least that makes sense at first. When we arrived at the party, there were maybe 10 people. And of the 100 sunbeds, maybe 5 were occupied. One of the service staff approached us again and explained that we need a sunbed and that we will have a minimum spend. That is also logical. But we only came for the party and just wanted to have a drink and see how the event and the day goes. As it was also a cold, windy and gray day on the beach.
We were then told again that we need a sun bed and have to pay the minimum spend. I explained again that we would just like a drink first to see how everything developed. In the end, we were allowed to go to the bar and order a drink. 🙏👏🙌 When I asked if we could sit down somewhere with the drink, we were told: No, that's only possible if we either take a sun bed and pay the minimum spend or if we want a table, pay the minimum spend for the table.
Ok, we thought: how much would it cost if we could sit down for a drink? About USD 2,000.00 was the answer. At this point I would like to emphasize that every couch and every table in Vagalume was empty at this time 😅 I really wonder why?! 🙄🤭 So the only option we had to have a drink in a completely empty beach club was to stand. This is more than incomprehensible, outrageous and incredibly ridiculous. Thank you Vagalume, but you won't get good...
