Twenty years ago, I ate regularly in this location when the restaurant was called La Dolce Vita ("Chez Rachid"). The Moroccan owner actually lived in Orlando, Florida, and I remembered he said he owned a Moroccan restaurant at Disney World's Epcott Center. Since his Agadir restaurant went out of business, a new restaurant opened in the same spot called Little Italy.
While it is popular, particularly at dinner, it does not rate as highly in my estimation as its predecessor, La Dolce Vita.
On the negative side, the charming wooden paneling and Italian decor of the original La Dolce Vita has been removed, so now the place lacks any Italian decorations and has plain, almost austere, shiny white walls with mirrors, modern light fixtures and no decoration on the walls. Nothing feels or looks Italian at all. There are new cushioned seats, which are comfortable. The blaring pop music was distracting and not appropriate for an authentic Italian restaurant.
The pasta dishes and pizzas are still fairly good. I always otder the pizza with anchovies, and it could be improved by putting two or three anchovy filets on each slice, rather than just one filet.
Several years ago, while on an eight-day vacation in Agadir, I went to eat with a friend, and I ordered a pasta dish--penne a la crème with Roquefort. It arrived steaming hot and was delicious with grated Parmesan and crispy bread.
My friend ordered the Beef Stroganov, which was disappointing, as it had no required sour cream and looked more like beef stew, served with two round mounds of rice. His Pilsner beer, however, was ice cold.
There are several outdoor tables, but I prefer sitting inside.
The waiters are all swift and polite and most have good English. Little Italy is moderately priced, and credit and debit cards are accepted. WiFi is available. Ask your waiter for the code.
During a stay in Agadir in Ramadan 2024, in March, I was disappointed to read a sign on the front door that said Little Italy was closed for the...
Read moreWas I not white enough? What else was the reason? I only just walked in and have never felt so disrespected. So I just walked right out.
I’m visiting from London and took a taxi there just now. It was extremely quiet inside so the employees standing there had no reason to ignore me. They did not greet me so I just made my way towards an empty table looking towards the waiters so they can say something. An extremely glum looking man approached me, didn’t say anything and just pointed at the table. He looked disgusted to see me (and I am a well dressed person). I prompted him and said ‘are you open’ (because of their reluctance) he sarcastically retorted ‘no we are closed’ maintaining his grim face. I just looked at him in amazement and walked out. What a sick...
Read moreOur favourite restaurant in Agadir, they also have a branch in Marrakesh. We stumbled across this on a stroll and are so happy we went in! The family run Italian is so authentic that they have a can driving fresh ingredients directly from Italy every week. Delicious amouse bouche. Quality cocktails made well. An excellent wine list. It's hard to know which dishes deserve a special mention as they are all so well presented and clearly use the best produce: but for me it's the blue cheese and walnut gnocchi, naughty and comfort food. The octopus 🐙 is cooked to perfect and the Tiramisu well.. it's...
