I am a Moroccan living in Finland who visited Morocco for a holiday. During our trip, my husband and I, along with some family members and friends, made reservations for eight people at Casa Emma in Rabat. Upon our arrival, we found ourselves waiting for someone to seat us, which took longer than expected. I would like to caution other women not to wear high heels because of the wait.
Furthermore, a waiter addressed a lady who appeared to be a manager due to her long dark hair, eyelash extensions, flushy outfit and lip fillers. She did not greet us warmly; instead, she seemed quite annoyed. After checking our reservation, she stated, "There's no entertainment tonight." We informed her that we were there for a cozy dinner, to which she responded rudely, "Are you planning to order alcohol? If not, you should finish your dinner and leave before midnight." She also mentioned that the minimum alcohol purchase was a bottle costing 160 euros.
My husband and I were inclined to leave at that point, but we waited for the person who had made the reservation to arrive. When our friend arrived, they seated us in a location of their choosing, even though I requested to move due to a bothersome air conditioner behind us. Unfortunately, they couldn't accommodate the request.
The seating, especially the sofa, was uncomfortable for dining. The food was decent but not outstanding. However, the most significant issue was the absence of designated smoking and non-smoking areas. While we were eating, people around us were smoking incessantly, which gave me a headache. It was disconcerting to enjoy a meal while surrounded by smoke.
We chose not to make a scene because we were with a group, so we completed our dinner and left. It's worth noting that we paid almost the same amount as the cost of a bottle of alcohol. Consequently, there was no point in causing a scene initially.
As an individual and a restaurant owner in Helsinki, I would strongly advise against visiting this establishment. The only positive aspect of our experience was a courteous waiter, a gentleman with glasses whose name I cannot recall. He was attentive and responsive whenever we needed assistance. My husband and I enjoy dining out and exploring new culinary experiences. While Finland is a European country, we have never encountered mistreatment at restaurants just because we don't order alcohol. Unfortunately, in my home country, Morocco, I've experienced a different attitude, as exemplified by Casa Emma. There are many fine dining options in Morocco, but Casa Emma is not...
Read moreIt has intimidating outlook at the beginning with those two serious guards, but it is nice and vibrant inside.
It is our second time here but our family is common visitors. I can tell regulars are treated differently.
We have only been here at the evenings. At first, you get a good impression about the interior and the lighting. Decorations and seating is OK.
Music is not bad. I guess, there are different DJs performing and they are not bad. Employees are well mannered and kind. They are usually very responsive and it covers some of their inexperience.
Food is just OK. Some of our orders were above and some were below average. Chicken corn was tender and crisp, but side sauce was inadequate. Shrimps tempura was tasteless and plain. Gyoza was over steamed and the filling was adjusted for the Moroccan cuisine.
Desserts were delicious, 5 out of 5 here! We ordered cookie (it is made in the pan and served with and ice cream) and pavlova. Both choices were good.
Drinks were equally bad! Bartenders doesn’t know basic cocktails as Lynchburg lemonade. Worst part was, i asked a year ago the same, and just to check ordered once again. There was no progress. They offered espresso martini, which was not in the menu. It was nothing but espresso martini.. Just order beer or sth, don’t take risks.
It seemed like you can come as family, but only stay till certain hours. Dancers just went in when were about to leave. I felt like things were about to go wild in there 😄
Overall, we liked it. I guess we would go...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Casa Emma left me utterly disappointed and frustrated. Despite making a reservation well in advance, my party and I were met with an unprofessional and disorganized establishment that failed to honor our reservation.
Upon arrival, we excitedly informed the hostess of our reservation, only to be met with a blank stare. It was evident that our reservation had somehow been mishandled. Instead of apologizing and trying to rectify the situation promptly, the staff seemed indifferent and disinterested in our predicament.
We were left standing awkwardly at the Bar, surrounded by the chaotic buzz of the restaurant. We could see empty tables, some even prepared for new guests, yet we were left without any guidance or assistance. The lack of communication from the staff was incredibly frustrating, as it made us feel like unimportant inconveniences rather than valued customers.
This lack of accountability and professionalism further exacerbated our disappointment.
In conclusion, my experience at Casa Emma was marred by a complete disregard for our reservation, unprofessionalism from the staff.
The initial excitement and anticipation turned into frustration and disappointment. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a pleasant and hassle-free...
