We really, really recommend this place! We came across it by accident as we were staying in a hotel across the street. Honestly we expected it to be just another fast food joint, but the food is amazing, and is all based on the owner’s family recipes. So good we went back the next day too. The grilled chicken is simply amazing: incredibly well-seasoned, crunchy skin and succulent meat. A delicious 1/4 chicken (drumstick plus thigh, or breast and wing) plus rice and chips (or fries, to the US reader) comes to 35 dirhams, which has to be a bargain in anyone’s language. If you’re not a fan of unnecessary cholesterol they will swap out the fries and give you vegetables instead. Their rice is seasoned with saffron and (we think) cumin so it’s similar to paella rice — delicious.
Don’t miss another amazing item on the menu from the family recipe-book, the “rate de veau farcie”. Don’t look up what it is on Google, just think of it as a Moroccan take on haggis or boudin noir or buchada. It’s stunning, try it!! And a bargain at 40 dirhams including sautéed vegetables, saffron rice and chips (fries).
All prices include bread and a small side order of beans (flageolets) or lentils. No tourists here, just locals who know where to get good neighbourhood food. And the staff are unfailingly friendly, welcoming and 100% honest. Highly...
Read moreFood was just ok but the service was bad… As soon as they spotted I was a foreigner and didn’t speak Arabic or French they tried to rip me off!!! Bill was 45 MAD but the asked for 60 MAD however, when I confronted the waiter and said it is 45 MAD, he apologised embarrassingly that I knew how much the food cost was, but despite all that they took 15 MD anyway saying it’s Baksheeh (tip I suppose)
Would certainly never go there again and suggest all foreigners to stay away from...
Read moreMy wife and I had a dinner out in Chicken Mac. We thought it was going to be like last time when we had our family dinner there. This time the food was tasteless, and the service was horrible. I asked the waiter in charge there for napkins or tissues twice, and for the third time later on, he answered me with a bad tone saying, " you will have to wait for them!!" We will not eat there again, and I will not refer Chicken Mac in Fes, Morocco to my friends...
