The Swakopmund Hofbrauhaus is a German-style restaurant located in the center of Swakopmund. The restaurant is located within a beautiful "brauhaus"-styled building and the interior is decorated with interesting German memorabilia. Being a beer lover, I was a bit disappointed in the beer selection. With "Hofbrauhaus" in the name, I expected a wide variety of German and local beers. However, the choice was rather limited, and the on-tap options were scarce. It didn't quite live up to the expectations set by the iconic name. On a more positive note, the food menu had a nice selection of dishes, and every item we tried was tasty. I was a bit disappointed with the service as well, as it was a bit lacklustre, and there was almost no atmosphere what so ever. Overall, the food and my fond memories of the Hofbrauhaus saved the day. I hope they make some improvements, as things change with time, and this used to be a go-to restaurant for me.

Nachdem wir uns gesetzt hatten wurde das letzte Lied viel zu laut zu Ende gespielt und eine Pause eingelegt. In dieser Zeit konnten wir unsere Bestellung aufgeben. Heute sollte es bei mir etwas leichtes werden, daher für mich einen Salat mit Hähnchen. Perfekt zu den Getränken gab es das nächste Lied. Etwas komisch war, dass eine Art Fliegeralarm dabei ertönte. Doch wir irrten uns… es handelte sich um einen Dudelsack der zum Duo dazu stieß. Eine Unterhaltung war ab diesem Punkt nicht mehr möglich. Unser Essen kann nach zwei trommelfellzerstörenden, blutergusserzeugenden, würgereizhervorrufenden Liedern. Mein Salat bestand aus 80% Dressing und 20% Salat. Wenn man ehrlich ist gehört Hähnchen eh nicht zu einem Salat daher fehlt es hier in der Rechnung. Nach einer Rekordzeit von 10 Minuten hatten alle aufgegessen und wir warteten nun auf unsere Rechnung. In der Zwischenzeit konnten wir uns die Flaggen im Restaurant angucken… Also Fazit: wenn ihr taubt seid, eher zu den Reichsbürgern gehört und auf Herzinfarkt essen steht, dann ist dies genau euer Laden. Alle anderen sollten einen großen Bogen darum machen. Was nicht unerwähnt bleiben sollte ist, dass das Fleisch und auch die Gerichte meiner Gruppe als „ordentlich“ und „durchaus passabel“ beschrieben wurden. Die Bedienung war ebenfalls sehr nett und hat mehrfach gefragt, ob alles in Ordnung ist und wir alles haben. Sie konnte nur leider nichts an dem Umfeld ändern…

This place felt really authentic, traditional and cozy. Offering some serious German classics, the interior is decorated with interesting paraphernalia that will keep even the most ADD entertained. Don’t expect extroverted American style service, communication with the staff is economical and efficient. The Kessler chops and apples strudel were outstanding. The eisbein meat was a little dry near the bone, the only factor preventing a full 5 star score.

RUDE RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!

The WORST POSSIBLE SERVICE I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS! I wonder if they are worried that a smile will break their faces!!

It feels like they only treat the German customers with respect.

Sat and waited for 5min, nobody even came to ask us if we wanted something to drink. The table was dirty and at 3pm on a Friday afternoon with Sunny weather (which is very rare) they closed, so they told us to go.. we were a table of 12, the waitress kept on getting our order wrong because she wrote nothing down…

The waitresses at this restaurant are possibly the RUDEST BUNCH OF SAD PEOPLE STUCK TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF WITNESSING.

No thank you, rather go ANYWHERE ELSE!! You’ll only be left disgusted and frustrated with the service if you go here!

Honestly I'm shocked this place was rated a 4.4. I mean What? Why? How?

This was the pinnacle of very mediocre. EXTREMELY MID. Let's be honest on a Saturday night we got in late and didn't have much choice where to go so we decided to go here. I took the pea soup(because lentil was finished) which was on the verge of inedible. Honestly disgusting, way too salty and just ew. My mum also took a schnitzel which by her words was "meh". The waitress did not want to be there at all. When asking for a recommendation she said "how would i know what you like", uuhhh ok.

Anyways overall very mediocre more on the bad side of...
