Fast Food Newari Khaja Ghar in Delhibazar is a definite go-to for anyone craving authentic Newari flavors, especially if you're a fan of spicy food. This spot is renowned for its piro sekuwa, and for good reason! The chicken sekuwa, in particular, is a standout – perfectly spiced, tender, and incredibly flavorful. Many regulars swear by it, and it's easy to see why it keeps people coming back. The portions are generous, and the meat is consistently chunky, which is a big plus.
Beyond the sekuwa, their Newari Khaja Set is a fantastic way to experience a variety of traditional dishes, offering a delicious spread of local delicacies. Don't miss out on their jhol momos for a soupy, spicy kick, or the classic Samay Baji. The aloo tama (potato and bamboo shoot curry) also comes highly recommended and pairs perfectly with the other savory items.
While the focus is clearly on the non-vegetarian Newari dishes, they do offer some vegetarian options. The fokso fry is another highlight, bursting with flavor, and the spiral potato has been a long-time favorite for many. The sandheko momo is also a must-try for its vibrant flavors.
The ambiance is casual and local, reflecting the true essence of a traditional "Khaja Ghar." It's a no-frills establishment, but the delicious food more than makes up for it. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and the quality of the ingredients. It's a great spot for a quick bite or a satisfying lunch.
However, a small note for those sensitive to spice: "piro" means spicy, and they definitely deliver on that promise! If you're not accustomed to fiery flavors, you might want to start with milder options or have some bara on hand to balance the heat. While most reviews praise the quality, a few experiences mention inconsistency in some dishes, particularly with the pork sekuwa being too oily or undercooked at times, so it might be best to stick to their celebrated chicken and buff options. Also, some reviews suggest that while the food is great, the washrooms could use improvement.

This was my 1st visit and liked it overall. Had tried their famous "sekuwa", the quantity was good at a price of NPR 180 for Buff Sekuwa. It was very spicy, not only that I had tried their Chicken Leg Piece costing NPR 200 for a piece (I have posted the pictures if you can judge the worthiness) as well and it also had same flavor ( I have suggested the shop owner as well to make a bit different marination for different items so as to retain and enhance the taste). And had tried their egg "bara" as well, good it was 👌. And had chiura (beaten rice), chana, alu and achar as well. Overall we were full🤷♂️
Overall the items were good and good quantity as well. Give it a shot if you are anon-veg and love Newari flavored...
