The Chimney Restaurant is one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was founded in 1968 by Boris Lissanevitch, a Russian émigré who wanted to introduce Nepal to the world of fine dining. The restaurant is located in the heart of Kathmandu, in a historic building that was once part of the royal palace.
We started our dining experience with Amuse-bouche, Focaccia bread with olive and salsa dips. Super!

We had a wonderful dining experience here, perfect for celebrating special occasions. Starting with the salads, both of them were fresh and our favourite pick would be the arugula feta salad, it was a little sweet and refreshing. We loved the Russian borscht made of veggies. The lamb chops and the grilled salmon were the stars of the show! Worth a visit here! The prawn was crispy and perfectly flavoured. A trio of frozen ice cream wrapped in meringue made the baked Alaska delicious! Also, the serving with fire was something unique for us!
The service here is top-notch. They are always happy to make recommendations and help you choose the perfect meal.
The atmosphere at The Chimney Restaurant is elegant and inviting. The restaurant is decorated with traditional Nepali furniture and artwork. The dining room is spacious and well-lit, and there is a large outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal on a warm evening.
