It had been a long while since I came back to Mezze by Roadhouse, and since my last experience I don't think I'll be coming back for another good while.
My friends and I came here for dinner, and ordered four food items, the Pepperoni pizza, the pork chop, the loaded wedges, and teriyaki chicken. I cannot express the disappointment that we all felt at the quality of the food on that fateful day.
The pizza was good, I don't think I had any complaints with it. Well made, well seasoned, very well prepared. Check. No problem.
It was the three other dishes that were the massive let downs. The loaded wedges lacked punch, flavour, any real taste. The sour cream was what lended most of the taste to this dish.
The teriyaki chicken, well and truly lacked teriyaki sauce. It did not have enough sauce at all.
But the biggest disappointment was the pork chop. The pork chop was not well made. It was very, very dry. The potato dish accompanying the pork chop was another bland treat. Apparently, guests would have been allowed the option to have either mashed potatoes or the jalapeño potato, but our waiter on the day negated to ask us the question. So we didn't get to pick the type of potato side. But would the mashed potato have made the dish any better, or the pork chop juicy? No.
The pizza was good, but not that good to prevent this 1-star rating. An...
Read moreBeen here a lot of time and love the food and ambience.Nothing beats smoked chicken hawaiian pizza with added sun dried tomatoes. Also love their passionfruit mocktail and negroni . No disappointments really besides their lasagna using beef meat , mind you not even buff but beef(thats what the chef told) .It would be great to have chicken option in lasagna .The other time i was disappointed was when i ordered bucatini arabiata and i clearly said make it in penne and gave clear instructions to waitress twice. I thought bucatini was another name for spaghetti or part of the name of the sauce. She actually got me and knew i meant penne in arabiata sauce but still bought it in spaghetti or bucatini and said "bucatini is itself a pasta .i took your order and you said bucatini" like she was trying to teach me a lesson on how to order your food properly😆 . But now Its really funny how they updated their menu with bucatini arabiata penne and bucatini arabiata spaghetti .Anyways ...
Read moreTried their salmon & prawn ravioli, it's awesome, truly. One of the best dishes I've ever had in Nepal. Unfortunately though it's too expensive now, so I've only had it once. And sadly I can't recommend their pizzas because they are very thin and limp and impossible to pick up. It's because they use inappropriate flour (Cake flour/Maida) to make their pizzas like everywhere else here in Nepal. It should be illegal. Because everyone knows you can't make a decent pizza with cake flour. You have to use bread flour for a strong and chewy crust. It's why this country makes the worst pizza in the world. Very unprofessional and poor quality to say the least. But a fine restaurant as this should know better.
But at least the atmosphere at this restaurant was great. One of the best anywhere in Kathmandu. And their prawn ravioli...
