I recently had the opportunity to dine at a highly touted Thakali restaurant in town, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Despite the hype surrounding this place, I found it to be a disappointment in terms of both ambience and food quality.
Let's start with the ambience, or rather, the lack thereof. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a gloomy and uninspiring atmosphere. There was no eletricity, the tables were too close together, and the overall decor seemed outdated and uninviting.
Moving on to the food, I was eager to try their Thakali cuisine, which is known for its bold flavors and unique dishes. Unfortunately, the dishes served here were anything but impressive. The menu promised authentic Thakali flavors, but what arrived at my table was a far cry from the vibrant and flavorful dishes I had expected. They didn't serve curd with non-veg Thakali. Veg Thakali only had a mix of vegetable for such an overrated price. No mushroom. No Paneer. They claimed they used local rice grain but the rice grains were too mushy and broken.
I ordered the Thakali thali, hoping to sample a variety of dishes. The meal was served with a lackluster assortment of items that tasted bland and lacked the rich flavors that are characteristic of Thakali cuisine. The portions were also disappointingly small, especially considering the prices charged.
In conclusion, I was thoroughly disappointed with my visit to this overrated Thakali restaurant. The lackluster ambience, subpar food, and unimpressive service made for an unpleasant lunch experience. Given the hype surrounding this place, my expectations were high, but they were sadly not met. I would caution anyone considering dining here to manage their expectations and perhaps explore other options (Jimbu Thakali could be a better choice which is just 2 mins walk from Tukche Thakali) for an authentic Thakali...
Read moreI was recommended by a friend to visit this place and I had high expectations. But this place was nothing as expected. The worst part of this food place is the service and the staff. Honestly, they would almost never smile and give the warm hospitality. The cleanliness here is definitely questionable! There is indoor space and outdoor too. I went inside at first but it was damn too hot, no any provisions of AC. Considering the price, we would expect the suitable temperature inside which was not there. Thus we went outdoors. Outside, the table and chairs were totally old fashioned. Not the ancient type, but the local old school. We waited atleast 10 minutes after which when we asked for water, they provided. Anyone would expect waiters to provide water as soon as we take our seat, but they didn't. Even while taking orders, they werent professional. Considering the cleanliness, the tables are cleaned very slow and I suppose many times customers might have to take seat where the tables arent cleaned- this was my case when I was indoors. In the context of food, I ordered Chicken thakali set. I do say that Daal and Rice were good but Chicken gravy was full of oil. These days any thakali kitchen would bring Ghee as soon as you get your thali, but this wasnt the case here. I had to ask myself for the ghee. But yeah they provided. They also provided me with extra Chicken Gravy which was decent. The pickles here were totally low quality with almost no real pickle taste. I would definitely not recommend anyone to visit this place for food or service. My first visit to this place is surely gonna be...

From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by the warm and inviting ambiance that perfectly complemented the rich heritage of the food. The menu offers a wonderful selection of dishes that are true to Thakali traditions, and each dish I tried was bursting with flavor and authenticity.
The dal-bhat set was particularly impressive, with perfectly cooked lentils, aromatic rice, and an array of delicious accompaniments that showcased the depth and variety of Thakali cuisine. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident in every bite, and the spices were balanced to perfection.
The staff were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive dining experience. Their passion for the cuisine and dedication to preserving its authenticity was clear, and it made the meal even more enjoyable.
