Lovely ambiance and neatly tucked into a quite gulli so street noise is minimal. That being said, I happened to drop by during a kid's birthday event and it was... loud 😅. The staff are still being trained but they are learning and are open to suggestions. They were apologetic that they didn't have quite /private spaces to dine that day. There is a small indoor cafe area, but majority of the seating is outdoors (I believe they are still renovating the other indoor space).
Looking at the menu had me excited because they offered a wide range of items not found normally in Kathmandu. I wanted to try everything because it all sounded so good! However they need to work on quality control. The glass noodle salad and chicken ramyun we had were both so incredibly spicy we had difficulty eating it. We hope they ask customers on their spice preferance next time or put a 🌶 chili next to the spicy food options. The iced green tea apple drink was way too sweet and it did not taste much like green tea... Also it was served with a single-use plastic straw when I had specifically said "no straw please". I was hoping that a nice looking place like Noya would have switched to reusable straws at least 😅. The staff surprised us with complementary potato fries to make up for the mistakes (which, thankfully, were not spicy), but I hope they are able to work on their dishes/menu and to keep improving and bettering the customer experience.
TL;DR: Lots to improve on, but would...
Read moreAs an American exploring Nepal for the first time, I was thrilled to discover Noya Hotel -- a true gem with beautiful rooms and facilities, incredibly friendly staff, and outstanding cuisine. What started as a short visit for my girlfriend and me turned into an enchanting three-week stay. Nestled in the heart of Kathmandu, Noya serves as a quiet escape from the city's bustling streets and honking taxis. The hotel is captivating, with its beautiful architecture, antique decorations, colorful flowers, and exotic birds. It's perfect for couples or families looking to explore nearby temples and markets during the day before returning to a peaceful spot in the evening. Our room featured a beautiful stone bathroom, air conditioning, a super comfy king-sized bed, and a balcony overlooking the serene patio area. The affiliated restaurant next door, The Bombay Club, serves some of the best Parsi/Indian food I've ever tasted. Plus they source all produce from their own farm, making it one of the safest dining options in Kathmandu for travelers concerned about food-related illness. My girlfriend and I ate there pretty much every day and have become completely addicted to their egg naan rolls and Hakka noodles! Noya is truly magical, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique and memorable stay in Kathmandu – you'll find it’s not just a hotel, but a place where you can truly feel at home while exploring this...
Read moreOne of its kind establishment in Nepal. Very tastefully done boutique hotel in the middle of Kathmandu. The food is excellent and pretty decent bar. They have separate coffee shop and a tea room with superb decoration. The tea room's decor is straight out of small British township. Heard they do high tea really well but haven't tried it yet. The staff are friendly but still have few rough edges in their service. The owner is very active and friendly. This has become...
