I was so surprised by this place: it had very good reviews so I decided to try it. The restaurant was very cold — they kept the window of the bathroom open as it smelled (this didn’t eliminate the smell, my party noticed it right as we entered and had to move tables further away to be able to enjoy our meal. To combat the cold, they’d set up a space heater, which didn’t really help the cause. My party had the spicy chicken ramen, edamame, karaage chicken, ebi fry and katsu ramen with shoyu broth: the food was very fast — too fast. We couldn’t finish the starters before our food came. The Karaage was awful — the quality of the chicken was mediocre and differed widely for each piece. Some of which had only very dry bits and others which had only fat. The ebi fry was much too greasy and there was barely any ebi to be found. The edamame was overcooked, I didn’t know this was possible! The ramen was fine but definitely not worth the price, in my opinion. I had high hopes for this place and maybe my experience was due to me having tried the “wrong” items but I unfortunately don’t think I’ll be returning...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at Ama Ramen and Dumpling de Pijp, and it was a truly delightful experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome with their friendly and helpful demeanor.
The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food. We ordered both the chicken and pork ramen, and each dish was bursting with flavor. The broth was rich and savory, perfectly complementing the tender noodles and well-cooked meats. It was evident that great care was taken in preparing each bowl, and the result was a delicious and satisfying meal.
Overall, Ama Ramen and Dumpling de Pijp is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic and tasty ramen. With its inviting atmosphere and attentive staff, it's a place I would highly recommend to both locals and visitors alike. We left with full bellies and smiles on our faces, eager to return for...
Read moreWent there on a wim on Saturday night with 3 friends. Easy enough to book a last minute table on their website, so we just turned up 2m before our reservation, at 2100 (the last slot before they close at 2145).
We ordered 2 x R6 (pork shio ramen) and 2 x R12, as well as a portion of the karaage and a large 1.8L bottle of soju.
The ramen was incredible: very tasty broth, well seared meet and perfect egg. The karaage pieces were a bit small and were okay - I've had better, but I also appreciate we probably had the last batch for a busy Saturday, so they might not have been super fresh. The soju was tasty, and the server was attentive and friendly.
Only negative might be that the lights are quite bright, so it's not as cosy of a vibe as it could be.
Would recommend for an easygoing and tasty ramen spot. We didn't get to try their sushi, but would love to...
