I came to this Surinamese restaurant while strolling in Amsterdam to have lunch, I ordered a dish of rames, which is an Indonesian recipe (the waiter thought it was Surinamese, it's so widespread in the Netherlands and Suriname that today they feel it's their). Rames is basically two dishes with (I think) rice, boiled eggs, skewered meat, chopped meat, finely chopped onions, some green beans and a lot of sauces and spices. There was also a tiny bowl of brown sauce, probably beans sauce. It was the BIGGEST dish I have ever received in my life, for 17€ you can get all that stuff! It was so much that I had to ask for a plastic bowl, fork and bag to take away the remaining food, I could only eat half! I also ordered a lemonade, it was the sweetest lemonade I drank in my life! The food was awesome, the place was clean and the atmosphere is nice, even if it's a small place. You can pay with card. The personnel is nice as well and available, even if their English level is a bit low, but I'll give five stars...

My Surinamese colleague took me to try the Saoto Soup from this shop. He mentioned that this is the best one in town so I gave it a try.

I cannot compare to with other places because here is the only place I’ve tried so far. I can only say that I’m satisfied with this dish. The soup broth is really good and it’s even better when you add their chilli sauce in it.

I want to make sure that it’s not one time good so I just tried again recently and of course, it’s still very good for me. I finished all the soup in the bowl. The price is also quite cheap. Next time, I will bring my friends to...

Fantastic little place, packed on a cold Monday late evening with delivery drivers coming in and out - a great sign. I didn’t eat all day to make room to try different things and had their apparently famous Saoto soup, beef rendang with nasi goreng on the side, and a roti. Had the portions been less generous I might have had room left to try Bakkeljauw - salted cod with cassava fries - will be next time together with something else from the extensive menu. Very kind staff and quick service too,...

A full 5 star for both the service and food. From the beginning Melvin and his crew were very welcoming to me. I couldn’t use my card to pay this time and since I don’t live here he was nice enough to direct me to the nearest atm. I ordered bami kip, bara and my favorite green punch soda. Everything was delicious and worth every penny. I will be back soon. Thank you for your kind hospitality.
