Eating at Bistro Bleu was awesome. The food was amazing and the place was really lively, though we did start off a bit annoyed. But that didn't really spoil the whole fun evening. On a busy Saturday night, I felt excited but also a bit mixed up. The bistro was full of energy, but we had a small problem at the start. We were sitting upstairs, kind of alone, and it took slightly more than 20 minutes just to get our drinks. This little mix-up was a bit of a letdown at first. And, trying to get a server's attention to order our food, even though they were close by, was a bit annoying. It looked like people sitting downstairs got their orders faster. As the night went on, any small issues we had at first were quickly forgotten because the food was just so good. Starters The scallops were amazing – cooked just right and came with a really tasty pillow of peas that was a nice surprise. The smoked salmon on toast was simple but really well done, with great quality ingredients that all worked well together. Main Courses The French Fish Stew really stood out. It was a big, tasty mix of seafood, veggies, and a creamy sauce, and there was so much of it I couldn’t even finish it all. My partner had a Black Angus tenderloin that was just perfect – it looked great and tasted even better, especially with the peppery sauce that made it even more special. Dessert The Tarte Tatin with caramel ice cream was the perfect end to a great meal. It was just the right size for sharing. Final Thoughts Bistro Bleu really shows off how good food and drinks can be, all in a lively and pretty place. The slow service at the start was a small hiccup, probably because they needed more staff. And if you want your food faster, sitting downstairs might be a good idea. But honestly, the quality of the food stands out on its own, regardless of the wait. Bistro Bleu is definitely a place you should try, with each dish feeling like it was made with a lot of attention 🙌🏻

After a beautiful concert, a group of friends and I dined at Bistro Bleu, a charming spot in Jordaan. Housed in a classic Amsterdam building, the restaurant exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance was delightful, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Seating is limited on the ground floor, and we climbed a steep, winding staircase to our reserved table on the second floor. While the restaurant was bustling, the service, though friendly, was notably slow. For my main course, I ordered the Angus tenderloin, requesting it medium rare. Unfortunately, it arrived dry and closer to medium well. What I found particularly disappointing was that the steak did not come with a sauce. It had to be ordered separately—unlike my experiences in French restaurants. Instead, I had to pay extra for it, which felt odd. Dessert was a mixed experience—it was far too large, and the chocolate cake crumble was overpowering. Neither of us were able to finish it. A smaller, more balanced portion would have been preferable. Despite these hiccups, we enjoyed a wonderful evening in good company. Bistro Bleu is worth a visit for its ambiance, though a few improvements could make the dining experience even better.

Combination of mediocre service and sub par food. We made reservations for 8:30pm. I arrived 15 minutes early and waited at the reception area, nobody even acknowledged us for 15 min, walked passed us like we were invisible, even though it was very clear we were waiting to talk to someone. Once we were finally seated, drinks were incorrect, food came really slowly, like an hour for the food to come, only 2 appetizers between 8 people. Lobster was so overcooked, the meat was like jerky. Took us 4 asks to get water and another 4 for ketchup. Many of the waiters and waitress didn't seem busy, just ineffective. There was only one waiter, trying to do his job. At the end when we paid for the bill, we asked to have it split between everyone. After every single person from the party paid, they still said we were owing €30+ dollars. My friend paid twice, €60 for a couple beers and a burger. THEN after thinking he covered the rest of the bill, they called us back and said we were still missing 4€. Would not go back, would not recommend.

I wanted to check this place out based on a positive YouTube review. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype... at all. We entered the restaurant and waited for the host. Who placed us beside the frigid entrance door. Once seated I went to the restroom to wash up. Couldn’t help but notice that It smelled like raw sewage around the lower kitchen/bar area, which by the way is in close proximity to the restrooms (GROSS!). Not sanitary at all. Throughout our visit we were very kind and polite to the staff. But for no apparent reason our server was cold and snarky. When ordering I choose a sauce with my steak other than what he recommended, he responded with a sarcastic “well why did you ask for my recommendation?”. I’m sorry if I burst your fragile ego by making my own choices. After all I am the one consuming and paying for the food not you! What kind of server says something like that to a paying customer?! Get another job you are in the wrong industry! From then on it was clear that for whatever reason we were not welcome. When our salad arrived it literally tasted like it was rinsed in raw seafood water. I guess the server told the kitchen to make our food disgusting? Because I didn’t go with your sauce recommendation? Talk about passive aggressive, grow up! About the only thing on the table that was edible was the wine, fries and the thin steak. And who knows what they actually did to our food. Other parties around us had timely service, got their bill promptly after their meals. People that came in after us had finished and left. We languished at our table with basically zero service when we did nothing but act politely and order our food and drink? I even called ahead to make a reservation! I finally had to flag another person down just to get our check so we could finally leave this dump. The only reason I could see why we were treated this way was because I was a tall athletic asian male with a white blonde girlfriend. READ: They are racist! Really there are so many other options in the area. I cannot recommend this place for any reason. Key points ignorant racist staff, horrible food and bad service. Pro Tip: Spend your...

Not sure where to start , was looking forward to the meal but from when we got there I knew the vibe was off.

We had a reservation and the lady who greeted us seemed annoyed we were even there. Showed us to our table and walked off. We were not asked would we like a drink. We were on the mezzanine. 15 minutes later our order was taken (now at 7.30pm). We asked what the soup of the day was and waiter said 'Don't know', he never even offered to check with the kitchen. At 7.50pm our starters arrived. Tasted good. We had no drinks left, and the waiter practically ran after he left the food so we had to wait another 10 minutes to order more. Our starters were finished by 8.15 and they stayed in front of us, empty until 8.30 despite staff walking by several times.

The table next to us had been seated at approx 8.30 and had just been served their starters when the waiter suddenly delivered their mains. So they had both courses in front of them at the same time.

By 9pm we still had no main course. We asked the waiter and he said he would check and never came back. At 9.20 we asked again and then our mains appeared. 2 steaks , stone cold, with one portion of fries between two despite the menu stating that each main was accompanied by fries. We asked the waiter if there was a mistake and he said no, we had to share. I told him the steak was cold and he just shrugged his shoulders.

At this point we had been there over 2 hours so we paid for our starters and drinks (2 drinks comped by waitress) and we left.

The service was appaulling, and from talking to other diners, we weren't alone in that assertion. The waiter couldn't have cared less about what was going on. Waitress who settled our bill apologised and was lovely

Get it together! Can't even review the food as starters were average and we never got to...
