The pistachio bun is amazing! The classic one though was quite underwhelming. We’ve tried it a couple times, chocolate mousse one was also tasty, my bf also liked the cheesecake one, and then the apple one wasn’t very special. But for me the pistachio is incomparably the best of all - maybe you can try to introduce more flavors with a similar idea as the pistachio one (filled inside with thick paste (rather than just in one place on top) - I think hazelnut/chocolate or maybe hazelnut/white chocolate paste (imitating kinder bueno creme) like that would be amazing).
Overall, it’s a really nice concept and the dough is very tasty. I like them a lot because they’re much lighter and less sweet than standard cinnamon rolls, they don’t stuff you up completely which I appreciate a lot. They are usually very fresh, only sometimes we got a bit more of a dry one but still tasty. They are on a pricey side but I would say for Amsterdam, and especially in Jordaan, the price is not much different to other bakeries around. The staff is very friendly.
They opened not so long ago and seem to be receptive to feedback so a small tip from me - please work on your classic - add some more pronounced cinnamon flavor and more/better frosting and introduce some more flavors filled the same way as the pistachio one! 🤗 and keep up...
Read moreStopped by this spot recently, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. We tried both the cheesecake bun and the savory bun with goat cheese, but found them to be a bit mediocre. The buns lacked that essential crunch you’d expect from a good croissant, and overall, you can definitely find better quality elsewhere.
Another thing to keep in mind is the seating – or lack thereof. The space is very tight with no room to stand, let alone sit. If you’re planning on eating here, you might want to consider another option because there’s really nowhere nearby to settle in and enjoy your food.
That said, one big positive is the pricing. This place is refreshingly affordable, especially compared to many pastry shops in Amsterdam where prices can be quite high. So, if you’re looking for a quick, budget-friendly bite, it’s not a bad option. But for a truly satisfying croissant experience, you might want to...
Read moreOh my dayz. What I just experienced is beyond words, but I'll give it my best shot to describe it. The blonde, somewhat chubby hottie behind the counter has once again managed to blow my mind. The service he provides is something you have to witness with your own eyes to believe. Beyond the service, the incredibly sexy staff, and the ethereal atmosphere that enchanted me the moment I stepped into 'BunBun', the Bun itself was out of this world.
Wouter, my boy, you’ve outdone yourself once again. I always knew you could cook—with your diverse experience in the best kitchens of the Netherlands and the skillset you’ve built over the years, from baking cookies to petit fours but boy, this mother**er can really cook if you know what I'm talkin' 'bout. I love you, and I love BunBun. Cheers! You’ll definitely find me there every other zesty Tuesday at Prinsengracht 16 in...
