I’m a regular customer and have been here many times since the opening. The first year I loved the menu. I brought all my friends to join me for dinner at Boothuis and we loved it. We usually ordered 1 pizza and 1 salad (they had an amazing Fregola salad on the 1st menu) which was plenty for 2 woman or customers who want to eat healthy. There was even some space left for the amazing Tiramisu! Unfortunately, last year they changed the menu(new owner/chef?) and every time I struggle with what I should order. The pizza’s are too large to eat by yourself(for most women at least), I can never finish and feel guilty for eating so much dough. There are other menu options, but they are not all so appealing and mostly with cheese and meat. What the menu really lacks is one or two good salads. For everyone who wants a lighter option in the summer(isn’t Boothuis all about summer vibes?) and maybe even some space left to try a delicious dessert! I’ve mentioned this to the staff. More than once. In the beginning when the menu had just changed, they told me more customers complained about the disappearing of the salads. But nothing was ever done with this feedback. Boothuis has a lot of potential, the location is great, the atmosphere relaxed and offers qualitative food and drinks. It can however improve by genuinely listening to the needs of their clients and by adding 1 or 2 healthy salads on the...
Read moreI've always loved this place also when it was Steiger 4, it was the hidden gem of the neighborhood. When I found out that it had become a proper Italian restaurant, I was more than happy because there is not much options around to have a nice relaxed eating with good food and good atmosphere. Since the change, I've been to dinner once and to lunch once. The food is delicious, the menu is also very nicely designed with a lot of good options. However, I must say that both times the service was very slow unfortunately, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. It could be that they are short staffed because they are new, and to be fair both times the place was full and busy. But this seems to be the new normal of the place, so the owners could consider adding more to the kitchen staff :) On a positive note: the second time my order was reaaally late and after I had to ask, it seemed it was simply forgotten, after that they prepared it immediately, offered a nice salad as an apology (which I wasn't that hungry so I didn't want to mess a perfectly nice plate to take just a couple of bites), and instead they discounted the bill, which was nice of them and shows care for their customers. Not that I need a couple of euros that was discounted, nor do they; but this shows good management and care for customer...
Read moreReservation made on Saturday for 6 people at 1900. We arrived on time however as it was very busy there was no table available so a young man behind the bar asked us to wait and we would be called when the table was ready. We waited for 30 minutes and not once were we asked if we wanted a drink or aperatief . In the meantime a table became free near the reception so I asked if we could take this table and I was asked again if we had a reservation as it was busy! I asked straight away if we could order some drinks and have the menu. 20 minutes later still no drinks so I politely asked one of the staff whether we could get our 6 drinks. 10 minutes later one of the staff after walking around for a while asked whether the two drinks on the tray were for us. At 2015 I informed the young man at the reception that we were leaving and told them the service was atrocious. He agreed. We then booked a table at The Roos Restaurant on the Johan Huizingalaan a little further away, spent Eu 600 and had a wonderful meal with 'old-fashioned' service. I have been at the Boothuis a couple of times throughout the last couple of months as the location is excellent and the food is generally good however the quality of service leaves a lot to be desired. You really need to...
