Red Elephant Thai Food — Restaurant in Amsterdam

We arrived quite early around 18:00 so it was not busy at all, the food was really good and you know for today's post covid prices and in Amsterdam this place was really well priced, not expensive for the food or even the imported beer. The service was good at the start but, as time went on with only two servers the service went down. Two servers is simply not enough especially on a night when there is a theatre show and you need to leave for said show. Waited a good 10 minutes for a dessert menu which I ended up getting myself (If i was going again would skip as they are just Dutch desserts as advertised) and then another 10 minutes for the bill. Again I ended up going to the counter to pay rather than wait.

Excellent Thai Food place in Osdorp located at the Slotermeer.

Unique and good service, especially for Amsterdam. Experienced and fast waitress makes sure you don’t need to wave and wait for 30 minutes before you get noticed.

Food wise I have to say they have all the traditional Thai dishes. Very, very tasteful and quite big portions.

You don’t need to ask for doggy bags, if you can’t Finnish it they will pack it for you.

There is a huge parking across the street. The first 1.5 hours you can park you car for free there, a jfyi

Lastly i have to say it’s very clean restaurant with a nice atmosphere, good music track and again excellent service and waitresses.

Price wise fair. Definitely not cheap but for Amsterdam attractive price.

I can highly recommend...

While the food was great, service was not. We were among the first customers in the restaurant and after our entree dish we saw the room filling up and other customers getting served main dishes and leaving while we were kept on hold for at least 40-45 minutes after our entree dishes without any explanation. We tried our best to find out what was happening, this was not easy since it was tough getting a hold of the server and we were told twice the orders were coming right up - Only the second time this was true. A drink order didn't make it to our table so I guess it's safe to assume this also happened with our main orders.

Mistakes happen, owning up to them would be nice. Especially if you ring up the register full price after all this happening...
