Brasserie Bâton/ Espressamente Baton — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I don’t like complaining but my experience today in that place was outstandingly horrible. I walked into the place and asked if they had something savory to eat, the lady offered me the menu and I saw that all the dishes there required some time to prepare/ eat while I was looking for a snack. I asked her if they had something to take away and she said “Yes, we do” and gave me a different menu. I decided to go for a sandwich and what they brought to me you can see in the picture below. How I can walk with that bread? Does it look like a snack? I was really upset since I had a meeting and didn't have much time to eat. However, I already paid, and as you can see from the picture this sandwich is completely untransferable. I decided, ok, that sucks, but I'm going to eat it quickly inside and go. At that point lady came to me and said “No, you can't eat it inside, it's only for takeaway, if you want to eat it here, you should pay 3 € extra”🤡 Seriously????? You sold me a product that I can't put in my bag and I have to pay extra if I want to eat it???? An excellent cafe with delicious food, fantastic coffee and amazing service. In three I stopped in 4 times because the people working here are soooooo nice and warm and welcoming. I had the tomato soup and the lentil soup which were both phenomenal! The tuna sandwich with boiled was huge and very tasty- the wasabi-mayo really seals the deal! Now the ginger cinnamon orange tea is what blew my mind- it was incredible! They fuse all the ingredients together in a strainer and its up to me on how strong I want it. This is the best way to make herbal tea- I have never seen it done this way and now I want everyone to do it this way. Perfection! The location is also very beautiful. A quaint quiet lovely area close to the hustle and bustle but quiet enough to enjoy a moment 💜

Can’t speak to any of the food as our party stopped in to enjoy a coffee while we waited for a scheduled event. The hosts got us in immediately and the ordering from your phone with a QR code meant you could have minimal interruptions before, during, and after your food.

The coffees were good and so was the muffin. Bit steep on price for water at 3,50€ for a small bottle so I definitely recommend going to a Spar or Lidl and carrying your own water with you. That goes for anywhere in this city.

Overall, we enjoyed it and it gave us a good break from the wind while we waited....
