We went for the first time with 3 three other people to Burgermeester De Jordaan, in Amsterdam, last saturday evening (at 22:30).
We took 3 MEESTER BIEFBURGER and 1 GEITENKAASBURGER.
A tall, slim brown hair man took our orders, and we saw him 'help' the cook because he wanted to make it fast. For the burgers of the next table, as he was wrong with one order (the sauce), he just took the burger top, took a sheet of paper, removed the sauce with the paper, and put another sauce ! He just took our money before that and did not washed his hands. He spent his time washing his hands on his t-shirt ! His t-shirt was full of sauce and various traces of food. We watched and decided to eat anyway.
2 of the meester biefburger were ok. The third (with parmesan) was like spicey, and the geitenkaasburger was full of pepper (pepper was put so fast there was a lot of pepper on one side, nothing on the other).
We do not care if it was too spicey, we care for the hygiene of this restaurant, which was all but not clean, due to this guy.
It was our first time in a burger meester, we hoped it would be cleaner than Mac Donald's (even if these cases ahappens too much, in too...
Read moreSimple, no frills, tasty burger experience. Found this lovely burger place via a Google search after a few hours of plodding around the Artis zoo; it had good reviews and off we went to fill our tanks.
It offers a simple and friendly atmosphere with sitting available inside and Al fresco on the sidewalk. It was evening and a nice time to sit outside and watch the world go by but the children preferred inside and we found a place at the end of the restaurant with a curved bench perfect for 3.
Friendly customer service though we had to ask for the table to be cleaned which was promptly done. it was a bit busy with the other tables taken, the noise level was absolutely fine with a mixed customer demography. Our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived within a few minutes.
I had the popular Mokum cheeseburger and my ‘guests’ had the ‘Build your own burger - a double cheeseburger and the mini burger.
The unanimous verdict was that the burgers were ‘delish’ and an overall tasty experience. We had to order a second mini burger as 1 wasn’t filling for the 10 year old.
Fair prices for location and quality of food.

I got the Waygu special beef burger and it tasted pretty good. It was Waygu beef for sure, but you could tell it was the cheapest version. The combination of the Waygu with the shiso mayo and Japanese pickle was tasty. The beef could have been slightly more done for me.
My girlfriend ordered a regular cheeseburger and it was okay but, the meat was strangely over seasoned with far too many dried herbs. It was actually too overpowering and tasted like a badly seasoned home made meat loaf.
The fries are actually great. Perfect size and crispness. But one thing I’m not a fan off is their homemade ketchup and the fact they don’t have regular ketchup as a substitute for people who may not be a fan of theirs. Their ketchup isn’t really ketchup. More a homemade tomato purée/sauce. Not nearly sweet enough to be called a ketchup and all wrong from a textural point of view.
The chef and server were very nice, but couldn’t believe their ears when we asked them for...
