Café P96 — Restaurant in Amsterdam

One of the worst experience we had last summer 2023 April in the Netherlands outside this cafe. We were suppose to order food after taking pictures in front of the cafe but some guy ( claiming he is the owner of the restaurant) kept bulling us outside. We were 5 people all together including two kids; 4 years and 8 years. This man had two dogs with him and left them when he saw us. The dogs were barking at us and my like brother was crying. He laughed at us and told my dad, “Hahaha, is he sacred? Are you guys scared? My dogs will throw you in the water, you guys aren’t suppose to be here. I own that Cafe and we don’t like people like you”. Those exact words. We were very surprised to what he said since we never received so much hate for no reason from anyone before. After sometime the lady from the restaurant asked me not to do that and he stopped. We thought of ignoring him but it didn’t stop there. We decide to enter the restaurant but he left his dogs again in front of the cafe door. He just wouldn’t move. And that was it, when we decided to say something and replied back saying this isn’t okay and didn’t enter inside. Racism isn’t okay. We came all the way from United States to explore the beauty of the country and specifically for the cafe itself but had a horrible experience. I am not sure if he is the owner or that he owns the house where the cafe is at but whoever it is, the thing he did is not okay. Other people around him, the workers and all were just watching. Being Racist isn’t COOL. IT’S NOT COOL AT ALL. I kept this long message so that the owner of the restaurant realizes what’s going on outside the cafe as well and how unwelcome people are around the cafe for a tourist.

Very rude owner or staff I visited this place last week. We were on a short stop in Amsterdam and stopped here to take a quick break. I was looking at the menu. It didn't have the prices listed for drinks. So asked how much is price for water , cola etc. The rude guy tells me , "oh do you look at prices while ordering for your family on travel. Do you decide what you want based on prices. I don't ". I mean seriously , who are you to judge me and tell if I should ask for prices or not? Mind your own business!!

Later I was looking at my phone for instructions for next place. Again he makes a comment , " oh you should spend time together as family. Looking at phone always ". I don't what the issue with this person is , but avoid this place. If this person is not the owner, I would suggest owner to replace him, else you risk...

Don’t get food here, fries were severely undercooked (white fries, not even hot), bread in the bread basket was barely toasted and they said we would get 3 dips for the bread but we only had 2, kaasstengels were fine tho. We also ordered 2 tosti’s, they said they didn’t have bread, which is fine, bread basket was also okay. But they still charged us for the tosti’s??? could’ve been a mistake ofc but they came to us twice to say they had no bread for tosti’s so we assumed they would take it off off our bill when we ordered something else. We were all a bit tipsy when we left so it’s also our fault for not checking the bill...
