Great and reasonably priced taco's, but.. they forgot our taco order resulting in a wait of approx 50 mins.
We (2p) visited with a reservation booked about an hour before arriving. so we had to sit at the bar before a table opened up. The atmosphere of the place is very nice. We ordered a cocktail and a beer, however due to a transition in the menus the cocktail that was on the drink menu was not available anymore. The selection of beers is pretty good with Goose IPA on draft amongst others.
We first ordered three different taco's (beef, chicken and pastrami) for eur 9,95 for 2 of each, and shortly after that a side of patatas bravas and guacamole for 4 euros.
After a wait of 5-10 mins the sides arrived but the taco's did not. After an additional 25 mins, when we already finished our sides, we asked the waitress about the taco's to which we got the response that they were on their way. After an additional 10 min wait we decided to pay & go. We believe that in fact she forgot or misplaced our taco order, which can happen but she should have been forthcoming about this. In the end the other waiter persuaded us to wait an additional few mins because our order was about to leave the kitchen with the promise we did not have to pay for the taco's. Sadly it was only the pastrami and chicken taco; the beef taco's did not make it to the table.
All in all good taco's, but disappointed in the service although they did not charge us for the...
Read moreA cozy and reasonably priced taco place that is plastered with graffiti art. A small upper floor overlooking the bar and the rest of the restaurant consisting of a long slim high table with stools so you can people watch while enjoying the offerings of the place. Behind this, some smaller, more intimate seating for a few pairs of people are lined up against the wall, with windows glancing into the backyard.
Service was swift, welcoming and lively :). Food was good to great. Although we only ordered 2 different tacos, the vegan spicy chicken and the shrimp tacos. Both were lovely but not as delicious as Madre's 3D printed "pork". However, the portions and prices were more generous compared to those of Madre. The acoustics were also great at Mr Haz Taco Bar as we could talk in our usual volume very comfortably and we could not hear other people's conversations.
Overall, this taco place is great for the price and portions, their local beer selection is also amazing, in our opinion. Atmosphere and service are very welcoming, warm and, hm, true (?) to its spirit... i don't want to use authentic because I don't know Mexican culture, but if it is like Mr Haz, then authentic will be a...
Read moreI HATE LEAVING BAD REVIEWS. I want Mexican restaraunts to win in Europe. From the outside, this place really sells the dream- warm lighting, decent ambiance, the promise of good Mexican food. But step inside, take a bite, and the dream dies instantly. My girlfriend (who’s vegan) got the driest, most uninspired vegan food we’ve ever encountered. The fake chicken tasted like it came straight from a budget supermarket, tossed on a plate with zero marinade, seasoning, or effort. Meanwhile, my fish dish had all the flavor complexity of straight mayo-no hint of Baja sauce, just a sad, creamy mess. And the pork? Just… there. Not good, not awful, just a complete afterthought. On second thought, it was awful.
By the end of the meal, paying the bill felt like a personal defeat. If you enjoy being bamboozled by a good-looking restaurant only to be served overpriced mediocrity, this is your spot. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and eat literally...
