Café Restaurant De Kroon — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I came to this cafe for the first time. It was a Latin evening on 22.02.2023. communicated as a free entrance. I was immediately returned from the entrance as it was obligatory to leave your coats in a very small locket. After a lot of hustles, leaving the clothes against my will, including paying 2 euro for the locket and having to think of a suitable code to remember, I ordered mojito.

When the waiter mentioned the price of 14,50 euro I told him it was too much (I was shocked as I never heard this price before) and said I would like a glass of wine instead. He told me that another guy already started making it and I had to pay. Not sure if the waiter went to any hospitality school (judging from the manners he did not), I realized I could not get another drink if I do not take this one. In every other bar one first pays and then they bring them the drink, never heard that you cannot change your mind, especially with the price like this.

As mojito had mostly ice, I went to a toilet and, guess what, the entrance was 50 cents. So for an event with a free entrance, I spent almost 20 euro for a jar of ice. I cannot remember when I last had such a bad service, but most of all I cannot remember when the world turned out to be so brutal, completely disregarding the wishes of guests.

I am stunned and appalled, so much so that I actually made a review for the first time in my life. But I just had to as I think people should be protected from miscommunication and bad treatment at...

We went there for a company dinner with a pub quiz. Very poor choice from the side of the PubQuiz organisers to choose this place to work with. Very loud music and low lighting doesn't help when you're trying to play a round of pub quiz. Now as for the actual restaurant. The food was nothing special, we started with a stale flatbread and two tiny spreads and then on to the burgers. For most of us arrived cold and the burger was actually rock hard. There was a good amount of a blueberry (or some kind) of marmalade on it probably to cover the taste. The dessert was a tiny chocolate mousse very dense and overly sweet. The worst part was the service though. The head waiter and the other stuff were in a hurry to serve us and get rid of us. No personal touch, no willingness to give us a pleasurable experience. Plus the portions on the wines they were serving us were unequal and when we asked about it they simply said that some red wines they pour more than others, which has no logic whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend it to my enemies and I would definitely never...

I was already there a few times ago and impressed by the location. This time we wanted to celebrate a birthday during our Holland vacation. So I wrote to the club by email.

The communication was just great and after a few emails and phone calls we got a reservation and a great table. The club manager and all her colleagues were so super friendly and especially human with heart. When we arrived, we were so warmly welcomed.

It was a super great surprise with a small table fireworks for midnight :) The kitchen conjured up a big great dessert plate for us and it was then brought with a really great little table fireworks. So thank you very much again at this point 🙂

If you are looking for a great restaurant, café and club in one, you have come to the right place. Drinks, music, ambience and the people fit together so well here and we felt super comfortable. We will definitely come back and look forward to seeing you.
