The cafe is located on the corner of the Sarphati park, catching some great sun and people watching. It has a laid back atmosphere with comfortable seating to enjoy the buzz of the park and the city. It includes very attentive, local staff that are happy to help. We had a latte coffee was decently average and had a bubbly foam topping that withstood the spoon test. You get a little milk chocolate on the side and a small glass of water. Very civilized. The carrot cake was fluffy and contained pieces fruits and carrot. The added icing cream wasn't overly sweet as you might expect from some of the mass produced corrotcakes. Definitely worth a visit after a day of urban exploring.

Ended up at Café Sarphaat by chance. Nice, laid-back atmosphere. We sat outside, a bit cramped but fine. We had already eaten but fancied a dessert. Unfortunately, my tarte tatin wasn’t warm, so I sent it back. We had a great evening, stayed outside until late into the night and continued inside from 1:00 AM. The bartender occasionally messed up our orders, and you could see the frustration on the staff's faces.

Perhaps a decent place for a drink if you can avoid the busy road and rubbish trucks. Food was pathetic - croque madam was the most unappealing ham and cheese sandwich with a fried egg on top, along with a an extortionate price of around €12-13. However my wife said the spicy chicken wrap was good. Service was equally unenthusiastic and the server looked strained to even interact.

TLDR: these people are willing to forget about your booking to make some extra money. Never going there ever again.

I used to love this place. After the lockdown it was the first place I went with my friends, right on the first day. I booked one month in advance. That was until last week. I booked for six and we asked for a table outside. We got told the table was available. No problem. So we arrive there and guess what? All outside tables are full. Since we were a bit early we said we could wait, but no. That wouldn't work. We needed to sit inside according to the owner. And upon saying that we reserved outside their reply was "But you cannot book outside". Then why did you tell me yes on the phone? And it was no mistake. We asked twice. At that point we left and we are never looking back. I get it. If you tell somebody that they can stay inside and they come all the way, then they are likely to stay when you tell them they have to sit inside instead. At the same time you can fill your outside tables as well with customers that didn't book and would go somewhere else if you told them to stay inside. Nice business strategy. Sorry it didn't...

I went there for breakfast. Staff is friendly and the order was delivered in a timely fashion, enjoyable plate overall. I had my bagel omelette with an americano, and the coffee tasted as it was burnt, but I’m italian so I may have different standards for it.

Price is reasonable. I had my breakfast on the outside which was cozy and nice until it rained, despite the curtains water was pouring everywhere, so we rushed to leave.

Inside tables looked nice as well, clean and well organised.

They don’t serve fried chicken at that time of the day, no idea if they...
