A charming but noisy corner bar with a cozy atmosphere and candlelit tables, perfect for a few beers or glasses of wine.
The small menu includes sausages, delicious warm bread, marinated anchovies and an assorted cheese platter which are all good, but be prepared for extremely slow and sloppy, even chaotic, service. We had to ask for a new candle, paper napkins and extra bread, for which we were charged an additional 2 Euros.
It did take a long time for the waitress to take our orders as the place gets very busy in the late afternoon and early evening hours until about eight o’clock. The bartenders and waitress are constantly busy and rushing around, so it is hard to get their attention and communicate due to the loud noises.
There is pleasant live music once a month, on Tuesdays, and it is not obtrusive and well performed.
My brother and I arrived at about 9 PM another night and to our disappointment, all the food had been sold out. Instead, we had several glasses of white wine and vowed to get to the café-restaurant earlier, by 7 PM, to ensure that we could eat the food.
Café Langereis is predominantly a bar and although limited food items are available, you will not find hamburgers, French fries, steak, chicken or pizza. It is mainly a bar. Credit cards are accepted. You may sit outside and smoke, and there is a toilet inside.
Several of the employees were exceptionally friendly and handled my drinks and food orders quickly. The bartender from Albania is the best I've...
Read moreAwful and disappointing experience! My cast mates and I were so excited to visit Café Langereis after a very long day of rehearsal at the opera. We noticed the whole back area was empty so about 7 of us sat down and moved a tiny table over that was vacant so we could all be closer together. A few of us went to the bar to Order beer and were scolded by the rudest bartender in history. He said we “barged in and took over”. It honestly seemed like he was racist and or just a miserable person, and in that case he should not be working in an industry that involves engaging other people. The tall bartender owes us a serious apology and free beer because we sadly left and did not patronize your establishment. This is no way to...
Read moreCafé Langereis was random choice we decided to go for on our wandering through beautiful Amsterdam. It was the best place we could possibly choose to have a nice beer! The place is very cozy and authentic. To me it looked very nice. The atmosphere in Langereis is simply amazing! Since we entered we felt really good there. The service was so nice. Just her attitude and charisma made us want to stay even longer. We were also lucky to listen local band. Their amazing performance and great playlist with all factors I've just mentioned made the place perfect to take a break. Totally recommended. I believe I will have chance to...
