We popped in here for a quick drink before a dinner reservation across the road at Restaurant Blauw and were delighted with our time here.
As we walked in, I spotted a pool table and immediately suggested we played a game, before then realising that it wasn't a pool table - there were no pockets!
It was actually a billiards table, with one white ball, one orange and one red ball - and we had no idea what to do.
Step forward Kurt, although he pronounced his name with several r's, ready to give us an exhaustive crash course in the rules and game tactics of this alien game. He was great fun and extremely friendly, and we soon knew what we were doing on the green baize.
A fun half hour later, with a beer bought for Kurt for his kind tutelage, we left to cross the road for a great dinner, much the wiser in one sport than we were before.

Read moreNo nonsense local Amsterdam bar. Expect a lot of Dutch music mixed with some 90s top 40 style classics. Friendly staff, nice crowd and affordable beers. They have a house cat and tables with table cloths.
