Yesterday, after returning from The Hague, I was originally planning to pick up some Indonesian takeout. Since the city center was quite busy, I decided to do a quick search on the way home and came across this hidden Indian gem in Amsterdam West.
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by a kind lady, possibly the daughter of the owners, who are originally from Punjab. The welcome felt genuine and immediately set a positive tone.
We ordered a butter chicken, one garlic naan, and two teas, just a light bite, as we weren’t too hungry. Despite our modest order, we were treated with full hospitality. No judgment, just kindness, which is often missing in today’s restaurant scene.
The food arrived promptly and was served with care on really beautiful plates. The butter chicken was absolutely delicious: tender pieces of chicken in a rich, slightly sweet sauce that was balanced and flavorful without being overly sugary. The rice was perfectly cooked, fluffy and soft, and the garlic naan had just the right bite.
As someone who has traveled extensively through India, I usually enjoy a bit more spice or heat in my dishes. That said, this version was well-calibrated for a Dutch audience, flavorful without overwhelming the palate. We finished everything, and for two people, the portion was just right. It felt honest and generous.
The restaurant wasn’t fully packed but had a steady stream of guests. It felt quiet, welcoming, and clean. It’s not an area we usually explore in Amsterdam, as we tend to dine at Indian spots closer to the center, but we’re truly glad we stumbled upon this place. We’ll definitely be back and next time I look forward to trying one of their homemade paneer dishes.
All in all: warm service, delicious food, and a place we’ll gladly return to. Highly...

Read moreI recently ordered from here, hoping to enjoy some authentic Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.
The food arrived tasteless, completely lacking the rich spices and flavors Indian food is known for. Even basic seasoning like salt was missing. When I contacted the restaurant to address this issue, the owner's response was surprisingly indifferent. He told me that this is how they prepare their food and suggested that I add salt and pepper myself.
This approach is unprofessional and raises questions about their authenticity as an Indian restaurant. Indian cuisine is celebrated for its bold and vibrant flavors, and what I received was far from that. If you're looking for genuine Indian food, I would recommend trying another place. My experience with Deep Indian Tandoori was underwhelming and not...
