Grill Restaurant El Torado — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Don't be fooled by the 5-star reviews. They're mostly fake. I'm so disappointed, especially by the waiter! The service was fast (we went after lunch service), and the meat was cooked on point, BUT:

The waiter didn't give us enough time to read the menus (menus that were dirty and greasy, btw). We ended up ordering two churrascos and he started to tell us that he wouldn't serve us the 225g steak, so we had to choose the 300g or bigger. Then we asked for one medium rare and one medium well, and he started complaining that we don't know how to eat meat (because of the medium-well). I should have left at that point... We ordered fries as a side, and 4€ for that amount of fries is ridiculous. The side salad that comes with the meat is just a slice of cucumber, a slice of tomato and some iceberg lettuce, no dressing or anything. The meat was perfectly done, but it was quite though to chew, I doubt it is really Argentinian steak. After asking for the bill, the waiter tried to make us pay by cash, saying that it was better (surprise, surprise). He started talking a lot and quickly grabbed the bill, so it didn't give me time to check that everything was correct. Asked to give it to me but ignored me. He also started complaining about Netherlands and Dutch language, saying that it is useless (why are you even in this country if you're complaining that much, but anyways). We wanted to leave, and he was very pushy, asking for a 5 star review at that very moment. My husband made a review but didn't publish it, and the waiter GRABBED HIS PHONE and started typing a 5 star review himself!!! Excuse me?! We deleted it, of course. I will never come back to this place. You should change the staff, so much lack of professionalism (and this comes from someone owning and working at a restaurant...

I went with to El Torado with my girlfriend for the Restaurant Week. I ordered carpaccio and ribs and my gf tomato soup and steak. The starters were very tasty and i cannot say a bad thing about them. However, around that time we noticed how mean the server was. My girl asked for a glass of tap water as it’s perfectly drinkable in Amsterdam. I don’t know if the waiter wanted to make a bad joke or what but he said “the bottle is too expensive huh?”. That threw us off immediately, cannot imagine saying that to a customer in hospitality business. Then, the mains arrived. My ribs were more on the dry side but the portion was very fair. Half of my gf’s steak was made well done although she asked for medium. I asked the waiter if we could get another one as it was overcooked. He went on to tell me that he is a cook for longer than I live(?) and that I am mistaken. We had a short argument. I am assuming the owner, stepped in as he saw the situation and brought us a new steak which was indeed very good. I am disappointed in the server which helped us that evening as I have never encountered a worse service. A real shame to give 3 stars because the owner...

Review for Grill Restaurant El Torado

My wife and I recently visited Grill Restaurant El Torado, and I must say, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. After waiting 40 minutes for our steaks, we were served dishes that were not cooked correctly. The quality of the steak was extremely subpar, and I had to send mine back just to be warmed up. It was disheartening to see such a lack of attention to detail in a restaurant that specializes in grilling.

To make matters worse, our side order never arrived at all. It felt like we were forgotten amidst the hustle of the restaurant, while other tables received their meals without issue. When we tried to express our concerns to the manager, we were met with indifference. It seemed that their main focus was on collecting bills rather than addressing customer satisfaction.

Overall, I cannot recommend Grill Restaurant El Torado. The combination of poorly cooked food, lack of service, and unresponsive management left us very dissatisfied. There are many other dining options available that prioritize their customers and provide a better...
