The location was good but the service was not. I had a reservation for later in the evening, and sat down immediately upon arrival, but no one came to the table for almost 15 minutes. I watched two servers bus and clean empty tables and make eye contact with each other about who was going to come to my table.
The server that sat me finally came back and simply asked if I were ready to order: no recognition for the fact that I had been sitting there the entire time. When I inquired about the long wait when both had time to clean other tables, she provided a feeble excuse that there were only two of them when I saw at least one additional male server at other guests’ tables.
The menu was not transparent for food allergens. When asked, the server said she didn’t know and had to get the other server. He was dismissive and when the food came he had to check to remember if he included the allergy note.
Unfortunately, the dish I ordered that the server said was free of my allergens caused me to have an allergic reaction and have to immediately take medication when I started having throat itching. The server was defensive when questioned about what may have been in it or cross contaminated to inform my address of the visible allergic reaction.
As many options for Indian and Nepalese food are available in the area, I would definitely go to another establishment with the hopes of having good food coupled with good service and better transparency of...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Lumbini Restaurant in Amsterdam, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish!
From the moment we were seated at the table , were greeted warmly by the manager. The attentive service set the tone for the rest of the evening.
The food was absolutely delicious:
Dal Soup: Rich and flavorful, perfect to start our meal. Veg Samosas: Crispy on the outside and filled with a delightful blend of spices. Aloo Tama Bodi: A fantastic dish that left us wanting more with its unique flavors. Butter Chicken: Creamy, tender, and beautifully spiced, this dish was a highlight. Butter Naan: Perfectly baked and complemented our main courses wonderfully. Beverages: The Coca Cola and Cola Zero were served refreshingly cold. Desserts: We ended our meal with Gulab Jamun, which was sweet and satisfying, and Kheer, a creamy delight.
The ambiance at Lumbini Restaurant added to the overall experience. It was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed evening out. As we left, we were thanked and invited to return with a warm "BEDANKT EN TOT ZIENS." We certainly will be back to enjoy more of their delicious offerings!

Read moreI ordered their paneer kadhai, chicken kadhai, and some butter naan, and I was genuinely impressed.
First and foremost, the taste was spot on. Both the paneer and chicken kadhai were flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and rich, aromatic gravies. The butter naan was perfectly soft and buttery – exactly what you want to mop up all that deliciousness.
What really stood out, though, was the portion size. They were generous! I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. But the best part? They actually paid attention to our preferences. They asked how we liked our spice levels and made sure everything was served exactly as we wanted it. That kind of attention to detail makes all the difference.
And the service? Absolutely top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. It's clear they care about their customers.
