Indrapura During our exploration of the vibrant Rembrandtplein, we discovered this exceptional Indonesian restaurant. A bustling atmosphere filled with diners at dinner is a clear indication of a restaurant's reputation, and the packed venue confirmed we were about to enjoy a remarkable meal. After a brief wait, we were seated, and it immediately felt like a promising start. As we settled in, a welcoming waiter promptly approached our table with a cold Warsteiner beer and a serving of prawn crackers (krupuk udang), making us feel instantly at home. We confidently chose the Nasi Rames Special for €23.50, and it did not disappoint. This dish showcased the finest Indonesian cuisine all on one plate. It featured Nasi putih, Sate Ayam, Ayam Rujak, Rendang, Sayur loden, Sambal goreng buncis, Sambal goreng telor, Sambal goreng tempé, Acar ketimun, and krupuk, each element demonstrating the rich and vibrant flavors of Indonesian food. Having dined on Indonesian fare in Bali and various restaurants globally, I can assert that this meal was truly exceptional. The service was not only friendly but highly attentive, enhancing our dining experience. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned again another night before leaving Amsterdam. We eagerly anticipate our next visit to Indrapura!

We were there on our first day, 9/11, in Amsterdam. Because we heard Indonisian food is good in Netherland, we walked into this place close to our hotel. We appreciated they accomodated us without reservation, even thought we were told we couldn't stay longer than 1 hour - this was fair. What happend next disappointed us. The waitress recommendated us to choose a preset menu, Purnama, for €34,50/person citing we only had 1 hour time. We went with her recommenation. After the food was brought to the table, we quickly realized it was badly over-priced. There were quite a few dishes but were all in very small containers. Those dishes were pre-cooked. Please see the picure. Apparently the food doesn't worth €69. The overpricing was further confirmed after we visited another indonesia restaurant, SAMA SEBO, in Amsterdam next day. After we quickly finished the meal, the waiter brought us the check and gave us the hint we need to add tips with 15/20/25% option on the machine. With the understanding tipping is not a Dutch custom and our disconent with the food, I declined the tipping. Immediately, the waiter changed his smiling face and almost threw the receipt to the table. I hope you had better luck there!

We snuck into this place off Rembrandt Square on a whim, as we’d heard that one should have Indonesian food while in Amsterdam. As early eaters (between 5pm and 8pm, though I’d check on the door first), we were valid for the 25% discount on ricetables. We got the €36 pp ricetable and were extremely pleased - excellent flavour, lots of range (beef, chicken, seafood and vegetables in a variety of sauces), and altogether more than enough quantity for us to feel gratuitously full. We were so excited to start eating when the food arrived, I only took a picture of the starter! (Yes, there’s even a starter included!) Extra nice touches: being able to pick our own seat so we could look out onto the square; the menu explaining where “ricetables” comes from; cute lamps with various South East Asian fruit attached, decorating the windowsills. Take notice: to get the discount you HAVE to leave your table before 8pm. Leave plenty of time to do this - we had trouble attracting the staff’s attention, then when we did it was 8:02pm and they almost didn’t give us the discount. Our waiter was pleasant enough about it, but I don’t think the boss was pleased. Overall recommend, would go again.

We had an unpleasant experience at this restaurant that we thought needs to be shared with others in order to avoid the situation. In our last day in Amsterdam, four of us did want to try out some Indonesian food for dinner after we had late lunch following our delayed museum visit. We chose Indrapura for having a light dinner. We were seated by ‘Mike’ the Maitre d, who told us that we were lucky to get a table (although 1/3rd of restaurant tables were open). We ordered 2 wines and two waters. When the waitress came for taking food orders, we told her that we had a late lunch, and want to order appetizers only. She told us that she had to check with her manager. ‘Mike’ came and told us that theirs was a ‘professional’ restaurant, and that we had to order at least one entree for all or at least 2 appetizers per person for us to stay. We decided not to order 8 appetizers and agreed to leave without making a scene. ‘Mike’ then promptly gave a bill for wine. When we told him that we hardly had time to have any wine, he told us that his was a ‘professional’ restaurant, and that he could not put the wine back in the bottle. We paid the bill, gulped the wine down, and left. We agree that the private establishments have a right to set their own rules – however unreasonable they may be. However, these need to be clearly communicated, either on menu or otherwise, to avoid these unpleasant situations. So, just be aware of Indrapura’s policy. As far as ‘Mike’ the manager is concerned, it won’t hurt the owner to send him to a charm school to round off his rude, crude,...

What an awful disappointment. We so wanted to experience some traditional Idonesian food and chose this restaurant based on location and reviews. We hadn't booked but they said we could have a table for an hour. So we thought service would be quick. It wasn't. We couldn't relax, as we constantly checked our watches. As experienced elsewhere in Amsterdam, they weren't really set up for children, so we ordered the larger rice table for 2 and an extra starter for us all to share. Thought we'd order more when we worked out what the kids liked. Waiter came back and said we hadn't ordered enough, said they did have things for kids, having originally said they didn't. Offered us some fried chicken, juat one portion. Thought that would be OK. Food arrived and was lukewarm to cold. But we were hungry and tired by then, almost an hour after we'd arrived, so we tucked in. When the bill came, they'd charged €23.50 for the unwanted, mediocre, mostly uneaten chicken! When we queried it, he said it was a full portion for all the kids. We said, we thought you'd offered us a kids' portion, expecting €12-14. We'd have happily paid if it had been delicious and kids had eaten it. They still charged us full price. Lady by the door, when she went to say goodbye to us and asked how it was, did at least have the decency to say sorry when I expressed our disappointment. I would avoid unless you want cold food and...

I Had a Wonderful Experience at the Restaurant I Visited Yesterday

Last night, I had the chance to visit a restaurant I had been wanting to try for a while, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the warm welcome and friendly staff made me feel that it was going to be a great evening.

The ambiance of the restaurant was very pleasant. The decor struck a perfect balance between modern and cozy. With dim lighting, comfortable seating, and soft background music, I felt completely at ease.

Now, let’s talk about the food… The menu offered a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. The dishes I ordered were not only visually appealing but also incredibly delicious. My main course, [name of the dish], was perfectly cooked, and the freshness of the ingredients was noticeable in every bite. The dessert, [name of the dessert], turned out to be one of the highlights of the evening.

The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. Our orders arrived on time and exactly as requested, and every need of ours was quickly taken care of.

In short, my time at this restaurant was a real treat, both for my taste buds and my soul. It’s rare to find such high-quality service and flavor in one place. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a great...
