During my holiday in Amsterdam, I discovered a nearby restaurant called Insaeng through Google. From the outside, it's not immediately obvious that it’s a restaurant, but upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find it bustling with activity.
The service staff was incredibly friendly despite being very busy. She patiently explained the menu to us and shared the fascinating history of Bibimbab. The Bibimbab they prepare is homemade, not street food or fancy, and therefore warm and comforting. She emphasized the importance of the sauce, explaining that without it, the Bibimbab would be tasteless. She also demonstrated how to properly mix everything together.
The wait was definitely worth it. Experiencing such friendly service in the heart of Amsterdam was a rare delight. The food itself was top-notch and far from ordinary. Unfortunately, we only had two hours, but it was more than enough to enjoy our time there. We will definitely come back.
Thank you to Insaeng and the team for the excellent work. I wish you all the best and hope you...
Read moreFood was tasty but not any more special than other Korean food places. The fryers were broken when we came so a few dishes we were interested in were off the menu that night. Main dishes are not served at the same time so some of us were already finished eating while others were still waiting for their plate. Portions were also not too filling.
It was hard to make contact with the servers, they were friendly but even though the restaurant was half empty, it took a long time before we got served.
And the atmosphere is not cozy. You can hear people sing karaoke from a different establishment, but the restaurant itself played no music and wasn't really decorated. The plastic chairs also don't really add to the atmosphere.
All in all I would not likely come back or really recommend this restaurant. I can see the appeal for people who have never had Korean food before but unfortunately there is nothing here I want to...
Read moreI usually order take away in this restaurant and it is always delicious. I love the Gochujang fried chicken, and the Kimchi fried rice. They are my go to as take away. Las time I went there with friends. The employees were really nice. We were served fast but we don't mind waiting as we are mostly talking. The sound isn't too loud. Sadly they were out of stock for the fried chicken. That happen when you go there later than most. That's too much success ! I choose the bibimbap bugolgi. The spiciness was perfect, same as the chicken. We also had desert. Are they good ? Yes, everyone was happy. Do they bring something more to your diner ? Not really as it isn't traditional or one of their main products. Maybe just including more "atypical" ice cream would help: like matcha, sesame, yuzu... I will continue to order take away and come by once in a while...
