Where do I start here?!
The food judging by the picture looks awesome, however, we unfortunately didn’t have the chance to taste it, because we got welcomed by probably the worst waiter experience I ever had in my life and I’ve seen quite a few.
I reserved the table a day prior, to actually take my girlfriend out on her birthday for a dinner, unfortunately the only time available was 08:15 pm, to cut the story short we got hungry and decided that we gonna dine at another place, however, to not cancel last second or fail the reservation we decided that we gonna get desserts here.
We sat waited for the waiter, and asked for the desserts menu, the change in his face expression didn’t take long, 1st thing he said was : “yea, but after the dinner” when we explained that we wanted dessert only, he said and I quote “No! Thats not how it works, we are not a dessert place, you don’t go to a bar and ask for dinner there, its the same here, our desserts they are like a complementary for our food, we are a restaurant with months in advance reservations, its the 1st time i’ve seen this”
1st of all, you don’t tell me when I can have my dessert, before, after or in the middle, that’s non of anyones concern. 2nd what the actual heck ?! Not how it works ?! You cant go to a bar and ask for dinner ?! My friend if it's on the menu, I can ask for it, and unless it’s out of stock, it shall be served without questions. 3rd if your desserts are COMPLEMENTARY for the main dishes, why do you have a menu for them and why are you asking money for it?! And 4th bragging about months in advance reservation, and making it feel like we got lucky to even be there is disgusting and especially when it’s not true, cuz I went to the reservation section to check, and I could reserve the next day and the day after that and so on.
Humbleness speaks of status!
Anyway, at the end of the conversation he made another comment that was concerning, he said “okie, I will make an exception and will bring you the dessert menu” making it sound like he is doing us a favour! No, its the other way around, its me doing you a favour by attending you restaurant and spending money.
Stood up and left, and a well deserved one star for...
Read moreWowww, what a superb new restaurant in Amsterdam, with a unique combination of hospitality, great dishes and fantastic wines, for a very affordable price. This cosy restaurant has also a nice atmosphere, bcs of the Italian sommelier and French chef, and its cool bistro-like-interior. Hospitality at its best. Personal , friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the menu card as all dishes were different but very very tasty. We got the radis beurre, oeufs mayo, pate maison, beat root, and oyster. Main dishes we had a great fish soup with its rouille, dorade, sausisse, and dessert the best chocolate mouse ever made..plus...a supreme d’agrumes (home made syrup, grapefruit, blood orange and clementines..omg) We tasted very special wines for great prices, like a French Almade Viognier, Le Vitriol, and the Italian Unlitro. All in all, one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Definitely number one :...
Read moreWeeeeeeeeelll… that was something amazing and outstanding. The meat was melting in our mouths. The mashed potatoes were tender like butter although very flavorful. Scallops were perfectly cooked with absolutely magnificent sauce on top. The salad which came with meat had beautiful handmade vinaigrette dressing. Onion soup very traditional and rich in flavor. Cheese platter was worth dying for. And of course the chocolate mousse. I don’t like sweets but this was fluffy and light like a cloud with some salt inside and almond flakes. This is 100 percent recommended. Hidden gem. Ambience and service on top. Good to mention that there is only one person on the floor and one in the kitchen which actually deeply impressed us. Everything...
