I was here on Christmas eve 2024 with my parents, brother and girlfriend. The place is well situated in a neighborhood just next to the Vondelpark. The weather was awful but none of that mattered inside: the place was full with guests but not too crowded. There is a bar in the middle and surrounding it are the tables for the guests who come here to eat something. The service was excellent: we were helped quickly and somebody asked if everything was ro our liking at appropriate intervals. The table space was just enough (we were situated around two rond tables with 3 chairs and 2-person wall-bench). It was possible to have conversations with everybody without having to raise our voices considerably. The food was well prepared. The only thing that stood out to me were the portion sizes. Depending on what you order from the menu, the portion sizes can vary. The onion soup starter for example has a considerable size compared to some of the other starters. If you are hungry and expect to have a big appetite I would definitely go for the soup as a starter. Besides the decent portionsize it also tastes very, very good! The other starters were also well prepared and tasted good but for me the soup stood above the rest. For the main course My dad had chosen the mussels, two others had the cordon blue and I had the chicken paillard. Here the difference in size stood out: the mussels were significantly smaller in total size compared to the cordon blue and paillard. Out of these, I would recommend the cordon blue: it was a very well sized portion and the meat was absolutely tender and tasty. The paillard tasted really nice too but the meat was just a bit overcooked making them less tender than I had hoped. The supplemented fries were good, exactly what you might expect from them. The deserts were all well prepared and of equal portion sizes so that served as a big plus at the end of our evening. The wines that were ordered were excellent choices by the way. All in all we had a lovely evening and I would come here again...
Read moreI recently visited Le petit George and must say that despite the negative reviews, I had a surprisingly pleasant experience. Sometimes it's important to give a place a chance, and in this case, I'm glad I did!
Firstly, I was impressed by how quickly my food arrived. Despite the previous reviews, the service was prompt, and my order came to the table in no time. It's always a great feeling when you're hungry and the food arrives promptly, and this restaurant definitely excelled in that aspect.
Speaking of service, I found the staff to be extremely friendly and attentive. They greeted me warmly upon arrival and ensured that my dining experience was enjoyable. Despite the negative comments I had read, the waitstaff provided excellent service, always ready to assist and answer any questions I had. Their dedication to customer satisfaction was truly commendable.
Now, let's talk about the highlight of my meal—the entrecote. I ordered it medium-rare, and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. It was evident that the chefs took great care in preparing it. The accompanying sides were also well-prepared and complemented the main dish nicely.
Though I understand that every dining experience can vary, I feel it's essential to provide an unbiased perspective. In my case, the negative reviews did not align with my personal experience at all. The food arrived quickly, the service was fantastic, and the entrecote was cooked exactly as I requested.
I would recommend visiting this place. Don't let the negative reviews discourage you. It's always worth giving a place a chance, as you might be pleasantly surprised,...
Read moreStay away from this place at all costs. There are a 1000 different places to eat that are better than this in Amsterdam. And there are a 1000 different reasons not to eat here. For starters, it took 30 minutes to get drinks, it took an hour to get a starter, took 2 hours to get our meal, and were never openly offered refills on drinks on even water. The food was even worse. Steak was RAW, bland, and disgusting. We all ordered medium rare-medium steaks and not one of them was cooked. It looked liked seared ahi. The salad was warmer than the steak! Someone in our group ended up getting food poisoning and ended up throwing up 5 minutes after the restaurant and didn’t stop having chills for another 3 hours. Pale faced and cold. He had it the worst. All of us didn’t feel right. Which ruined are plans for the rest of our last evening in Amsterdam. We weren’t able to physically go out of our hotel because of how terrible it was. When you travel abroad you really want to experience the food in its truest form and this was nothing more than cat food with prison service. For the restaurant owner that responds to this review, trust me this was an unforgettable experience and you belong on kitchen nightmares. There is no...
