Louis — Restaurant in Amsterdam

My boyfriend and I came across Louis whilst wandering around Amsterdam looking for somewhere to eat for lunch. We noticed that outside of Louis it looked quite busy with people sat outside so we decided to take a look. Inside it was practically empty there was only one other person inside but nonetheless we decided to order some drinks and some food from the lunch menu. I ordered a Cheese & Salami Toastie and my boyfriend ordered the Sourdough Bread with Braised Beef and Shallot Mayonaise. We decided to take a seat inside at the back of the restaurant as there was no seating outside at the time. The interior is a bit quirky and a bit rustic looking. Our food came out pretty quickly which was good and the food was fresh and hot. When the lady brought out our food she said that we could sit outside if we wanted to because it was nice weather and there was now a table available so she took our food and cutlery outside for us and we followed with our drinks. We sat down outside and it was lovely! We were both really impressed by our food and my boyfriend absolutely loved the Braised Beef and I did taste it for myself and it was lovely! In Amsterdam one of my favorite places to go (when I work) is Café Louis on Singel 43. When you are here you might see me, or meet their great staff like Sharon, Marc. Or Ari with little Raton and the café cat! All great locals that make your experience at Louis unforgettable. It is located in a great neighborhood in downtown center of Amsterdam, the pub (or kroeg as we say it) has a good selection of beers and wines and fair prices, so is the coffee. You can easily work online inside, enjoy the atmosphere. And don’t be surprised when you see that Amsterdam has more than one red light district (very small over there). That makes this little neighborhood so unique. The outdoor terrace has a great view to the canal and to Ari’s pride and passion, his flowers. One of the most photographed corners in Amsterdam. On the corner of the Singel and the Korsjespoortsteeg you will find Bar Louis. The moment you walk in it feels like you are in a living room where all the people from the entire neighbourhood gather. Some people play games, others read the newspaper or observe the locals and tourists passing by. Bar Louis is an amazing spot for every season! During summer you can sit outside and you will have a wonderful view along the canal. Friendly staff and good service, one of the reasons to come back here! Hungover or just really hungry and down for a good sandwich? Try their sandwich 'sukade' meat. A sandwich with stew made of beef and a tasteful sauce of shallots!
