Hapimag Stadtresidenz Amsterdam — Hotel in Amsterdam

This Hapimag residence is located just 5 minutes walking distance from the station, on one of the canals (Singel). Although it is very near the city centre you're just outside the buzz on a relatively quiet street.|It is a historical building, so you will encounter some steps, but there is an elevator to move between floors. We had the top front room, large enough, but with historical beams that can get a bit in the way. Some renovation is due, the carpet has definitely seen better times. And, as in many rooms: why only one comfy chair in a double room?|The staff is friendly, but not as helpful as we are used to in other Hapimag Switzerland or Germany. |There is no restaurant, but you can order breakfast or just fresh bread. In the close vicinity there are many restaurants and bars. Do steer clear of the Italian restaurant in the alley around the corner. Just up the road along the canal is a very nice Amsterdam bar called Louis, where you can meet locals (and a few tourists). Several attractions like Anne Frank House, Rembrandt house and 9 Streets are all within a short walking distance.|All in all a very good accomodation to...

Hapimag Amsterdam is non-smoking, comfortable and quiet, a perfect place for a relaxing stay. The residence opened its doors in 1989 and offers 26 apartments in style.||||Centrally located at a canal in Amsterdam old town, it has at walking distance the railway station. Nearby you have a choice of restaurants, coffee houses, tourist shops and a supermarket.||||We had a comfortable one-room apartment at the first floor with a bedroom annex fully equipped kitchenette. The apartment had a separate small bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower. All was clean. Nicely furnished and decorated, the room had an OK twin bed, table & chairs, bench, wardrobe & safe, and a flat-screen TV set. Windows have a view of the Singel canal and can be opened. Good location - quick to get to central station and the main areas. Not impressed about the sofa bed that was old (it was like sleeping in the back of an old car) and you have to make your own bed. Also asked for 2x extra pillows because the ones that came in the cupboard were pretty much flat and reception gave us 2x pillows without pillow cases??? Lastly, we saw someone dodgy come into the elevator with us and followed us up to our level, we let them out first to see where they were going... the person went to knock on a random room (storage) so we quickly ditched him.... no cctv around and the staff was never really at...
