The worst service ever. And the worst part is that they don’t want improve that. At 20 you can not order your pizza take away, imagine ask for a table. That’s just ridiculous especially in Amsterdam. And the most funny parte is that one of the girl recognized me because I was complaining for the same reason 2 years ago but nothing change, this for me it’s mean that just they don’t care. And what she forgot or decide to forgot is that that day I had the reservation but they just forgot to take apart the gluten free dough. For me this is really un respectable for the customers. Your pizza are really good but for the rest u deserve to fail! I give 2 start just for the taste of the pizza but, take in mind customers, that is also contaminated so take care if u are celiac, because they cook everything in the same oven!
I will answer to the owner . Last time I was there was last summer few time and most of the time with empty place I was able to seat just on the bar, I have a picture with the date and the mail for the confirmation for the reservation, so I can prove it. Second I’m happy to hear that u finally buy the second oven if I’d new otherwise still contaminated, because before u was cooking in the same oven and I’m sure because u told to us, before u had just 1 oven and u was just not taking care of the rules to prepare gluten free food safety, u was just using corn flour for the oven, which does not eliminate contamination, because glutan free and no was still cooking in the same oven, and I saw u put the different kind of pizza in the oven. This also demonstrates a great ignorance about what your job should be. Now just because I was reviewing the best experience I get it and was not the first time, I was just trying to give u another chance, u want blame me for the the incompetence of your staff and yours too? This just confirms what a lot of people says in the other reviews about your behavior and the behavior of your staff. I’m not the only one complain about the same things. U should learn from there and try to improve not blame the customers was not happy about your service. You are losing customers and that by doing so you risk closing this business too, like the other one. A good manager/owner know that the custumers basiclly are “always” in right because litterly u live on your guest if u lose your customer u are done. So u should start to respect more your custumers, and be less arrogant and aggressive, and stop to blame people. Because when someone complain, u are always rude when u reply and u blame and say a lot of lies trying to defend yoursel when is just unacceptable your behavior, when u just should to understand that the right thing to do in this case it’s just try to understand what is not working and what is making your guest upset, and work on the things are wrong to trying to improve your service. But unfortunately u just don’t care. So I am the one who wishes you good luck and I hope that you can continue working because the competition is here in Amsterdam and it is ruthless, and I think soon or later u will close also this place. Your arrogance will not get you far. Good luck to u and to your...
Read moreLouLou's has become a go to spot for us. One of our (regular) party has an allergy to wheat. This means that all restaurants are rated first on safety. Is it safe to eat here? Is wheat going to be found in thickeners, or is the gluten-free solution using wheat flour that has had the gluten removed from it. Might work for coeliacs but not in our case. The wheat/gluten-free pizzas are made in a different oven at a different station on the other side of the restaurant, so there is almost no chance of cross contamination!
The other challenge is making a wheat-free pizza dough that is not really lame; either it falls apart or is like chewing on cardboard. LouLou's should patent their recipe because they have solved the problem so well that I'm tempted to order the gluten-free pizza because it looks even better than their excellent and beautiful looking wheat pizzas.
The food is excellent!! I have yet to find something that is 'meh', it is all excellent. To add to the challenge our party poses we are all vegetarian or pescatarian, and one of us really does not like cheese! The pizzas, salads, bruschetta's are all excellent. The mushroom pizza is as rich, and deep and earthy as you would hope. They have an aubergine delight I would highly recommend, actually, although we can only offer opinions on the large variety of vegetarian pizzas on the menu, we have tried them all and they are all delicious. Order for your mood and you will not be disappointed.
The atmosphere is always lively and the place is always full, so make sure to reserve beforehand. The service personnel are excellent, prompt and charming, and everyone in there is very nice and happy to say hello even though they are very busy.
I do not believe in taking photos of food, as it never looks in a photo as it does in reality, at least the ones I try to take never do, and I do not want to do the restaurant a...
Read moreA Lovely Evening at Loulou Pizzabar in Amsterdam
As a pizza lover, my visit to Loulou Pizzabar was a real treat. The pizzeria has a stylish yet welcoming vibe, and I felt at home right away. But it’s the pizza that truly makes this place special.
Flavio, the owner, clearly puts a lot of passion into his work, and I had the chance to chat with him about his dough-making process. He explained how he uses a double-prefermented dough with 75% hydration, combining different flours, including rice and cereal, to give it a soft, flavorful crust. I ordered the Ti Voglio Bene, the pizzeria's signature pizza, and my girlfriend had the Arabica. Both were delicious, with thoughtful toppings and a satisfying texture that showed the care in preparation.
The staff was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The evening ended with a wonderful surprise. It was my birthday, and Flavio and his team surprised me with a slice of Tiramisu topped with a candle, along with two shots of limoncello while they sang the birthday song. This thoughtful gesture made the night even more special. And, by the way, the tiramisu was excellent!
We paid 67 euros for two pizzas, two cocktails, and a bottle of water, which I found to be very fair considering the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience.
All in all, it was a very good experience. The pizzas, the warm atmosphere, and the friendly service made it an evening to remember. I only wish we were staying in Amsterdam longer, but I know that every time I return, Loulou Pizzabar will be my first stop for an authentic taste of contemporary...
