Amsterdam is famous for its liberal cannabis culture and iconic coffeeshops, but a growing underground scene is blending these relaxed cannabis lounges with the mystery and style of old-school speakeasies. Imagine stepping off a busy canal street, down an unmarked staircase, and into a world where velvet couches, low jazz, and the soft scent of cannabis create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
These speakeasy-style coffeeshops are discreet, stylish, and curated for those looking for more than just a quick smoke. Behind hidden doors and disguised entrances, visitors discover intimate spaces where high-quality cannabis meets handcrafted drinks, ambient lighting, and artistic decor. It's not just about getting high â itâs about experiencing Amsterdam's creative spirit in a refined, almost cinematic setting.
While traditional coffeeshops are open and casual, the speakeasy-inspired versions focus on exclusivity, atmosphere, and often a touch of mystery. Some require a password, others are only known by word of mouth or local tip-offs. They attract a mix of locals, seasoned travelers, and cannabis connoisseurs looking for something off the beaten path.
If you're visiting Amsterdam and want a truly memorable cannabis experience, seek out one of these hidden gems. Whether you're into classic strains, infused cocktails, or just a cozy escape from the tourist crowds, coffeeshop speakeasies offer a blend of nostalgia, modern luxury, and urban adventure â right in the heart...

In fact, I asked if we could stay and he said no, the sitting room is closed. I followed up with when they would be open the next day, returned the next day, and was turned away again.
âMembers Onlyâ is something SpeakEasy should put in big, bold letters.
I was a tourist happy to spend much of my money at this convenient location. Too bad the man behind the counter was so rude- thatâs basic business etiquette 101.
There are Coffeeshops throughout the neighborhood with MUCH better vibes and service.

The "Cali" in speakeasy is cheap and tastes lovely. The staff I have interacted with were very friendly. In Oost, speakeasy has the best weed, not an opinion; Nachtegaal simply has more options. The weed gets weighed in front of you too, the way...
